● More frequent cleaning and sanitizing. ● Access to hand sanitizer throughout the workplace. ● Access to our employee assistance program (EAP) and other mental health resources contact HR. ● Staggered shifts so fewer people are on-site at one time. ● Limit the number of people in the gather rooms, conference rooms, and communal areas to maintain the recommended 6’ social distance. ● You are required to wear masks in all common areas including hallways, walk ways, rest rooms, lunch rooms, copy rooms etc. In essence any time you leave your personal space you are required to wear a mask. ● Call, email, message, or video conference as much as possible rather than meet face to face. +1 WFH while simultaneously homeschooling two kids has been an absolute unproductive nightmare, but under normal circumstances, having a day or two at home is amazing. Like on a Friday, being able to do laundry, clean my bathrooms between meetings (I'm that rare UB breed who doesn't have a cleaning person), get dinners prepped, etc. sets me up for a weekend that is less hectic. I work in digital media - there is no "work day." We are sometimes working with West coast teams at 9:00pm EST, or putting together decks over the weekend. Taking 20 min here and there on a Friday afternoon between projects or calls doesn't mean my work isn't getting done. And my boss is literally doing the same thing. [ Reply | More ]

this. watch the spot, clean with alcohol, make sure you get the whole tick out. The only thing they will do is give you antibiotics, which you can do in a video consult any way. That said, I have seen a bullseye mark on my kid on a tick I swore was less than 24hrs. So if you want to be extra careful, just get the antibiotics. For small kids, it's a 10 day course. No need to save or test, just assume they all have it, it's a question of did it get into your system or not. [ Reply | More ]

Call your dc's doc. Last time I had an attached tick, I took the precautionary antibiotic. It's only one pill. (At least that's what it was a few years ago.) Doc can prescribe over the phone. [ - ] I dated a guy pre quarantine. It took him weeks to ask me out. Shy, sweet, incredibly smart. For two months of quarantine we were writing emails, texting, calls, zooms. He was AMAZING and romantic and hinting at our future. Then we had a terrible call and he was angry, combative, and somewhat demeaning. And then in a text after that call he blew me off and then started on the dating apps. I ignored. One week passed and he emailed and asked if 'we' were OK. I responded with an honest, kind "good luck and so long" email. RADIO SILENCE. It's been a month. I thought since we worked at same office (not same company) and will see each other daily once this is over that he would have replied in some way. What is going to happen? I've never dated before. He's in his mid 40s. I just don't understand what happened. Did I misread the situation? I reread the email I sent and I stand by it being honest and kind. I would send it again today. Can someone decode this? I feel so shocked. 28 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

It was a long call, about 90 minutes. He started off in a terrible mood. I told him about a victory I'd had that day and instead of saying oh cool congrats he was sullen, angry. And it just kept getting worse. I don't want to say specifically but he just keep needling me (or so it seemed). After the call I texted him how happy I was to hear his voice and then he blew me off with this total 'player' text - a persona I had never seen. I can't overstate how out of character the entire thing was. [ Reply | More ]

Just breathe it out, look for new people, be professional with him when you have to see him and that's it. He sounds unstable and has and is hot ad cold, that's all you need to know. pp -- I really do understand, and feel a lot of compassion for you. I obsessed over similar things in a similar situation and literally wasted months and months of my own time. In the end, I know it is the hardest thing to do, but I wish I could have saved all of that energy and time. The man has psychological issues, relationship issues -- it is a common thing in dating actually -- sometimes they will come on really strong in the beginning and "love bomb" you as someone else pointed out -- then suddenly change course and show you a different side. The lesson is you see that this person is not good for you and move on and use that experience to understand the next time it happens with someone that way, you let go. Until you find someone stable and compatible and NICE (which takes time, to really know how someone is).. It really is very simple. You did not have experience in dating, give yourself a break, but let go of the obsession and fantasies about him (what happened, why, what will happen when you see him, what he thinks etc). Just worry about yourself and again, be the best you you can be and then you will be able to be more ready for a healthy, nice relationship. You did indeed dodge a bullet as someone else said! GL!! Going to other trails at Harriman are going to be tricky. Parking lots are kind of a zoo b/c they've closed so many entrances and lots in order to keep park traffic down. My kids are signed up. I struggled with the decision but ultimately decided that the numbers are low at this point (we are at summer place in CT) and the summer may be their chance to run around at camp outside with some other kids after months of being cooped up just with each other. Who knows what the fall holds, so we're going for it now. The camp had a decent set of guidelines that make me feel ok, the risk to kids is low (though I get that they can pass it on to me and I may fare worse), I also need to get some work done this summer and there's no school to distract them. All told, I felt that I was willing to take a chance during what I perceive to be a potentially short window of opportunity for them to just be .... kids. [ Reply | More ]

After 6 full summers on the north fork, we bought in a small town on the south shore a little before the Hamptons. Great little house on the water. Beautiful neighborhood. Good amenities. One huge drawback is that we are surrounded by Trumpsters. It’s not a huge deal for us as we don’t socialize much, my husband is an introvert and I bring in my friends. But it’s hard for the kids. $35k checking, no savings, $3.8MM in non-retirement brokerage account. Feel that checking is a bit high, will likely reduce to $20-25k. [ Reply | More ]

i was your neighbor with my first kid. Food was appreciated, because I spent all day in the NICU and by the time i got home was too tired and stressed to cook. It's nice of you to think of her. [ Reply | More ]

I agree. Food was a big thing for me. I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be eating other people's food, but a gift card for a meal delivery service would be helpful. I don't think I cooked a single meal while my baby was in the NICU. [ Reply | More ]

OR: maybe also ask if you could help picking anything up or accepting a delivery that need a person. I remember trying to get ahold of of a hospital grade breast pump and being frustrated that I had to go get in person and it was nowhere near the hospital so it required a special trip out... Let her know that you are thinking of her and the baby and say that you are glad the baby is getting good care. (These words may be reassuring.) Then ask if you can do anything to help with logistics, such as sending food to their home or the hospital. If she declines you could always send treats to the NICU floor -- families and staff always appreciate that. You could also make a monetary donation to the hospital -- revenues are down sharply so this is a great time to provide support. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Berkeley is piloting a test-blind study. According to campus spokesperson Janet Gilmore, SAT and ACT scores will not be considered for any California applicants next year, and the pilot study will track the academic performance of this cohort of students. 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

This does not affect out of state or international students, who are allowed to make up 31.6% of admitted students. And test scores never affected transfer students from California community colleges, who have to make up 33% of their admitted students. So even if 15,000 students get admitted for Fall 2021, the study they are piloting will only affect about 5,310 students (about 35.4% of admitted students are California residents that are first time freshmen). the UC's are very familiar with in-state high schools so they can do a pretty good job evaluating applicants without standardized tests. also a fairly uniform state-wide curriculum. [ Reply | More ]
