I need to rent a 3 bedroom apartment downtown. Planning for longterm rental, 5-7 years. When is the best time to do it? I need a deal. TIA [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Our friends negotiated a great deal on a 2500 ft 3 bed in a new building downtown that was half vacant. But it was only 2 years with no option to extend because the company felt it was a better market to sell. [ Reply | More ]

Getting a 5-7 year lease seems unlikely, standard is one or two. [ Reply | More ]

Yeah, 5-7 year lease doesn't happen in NY rental market. I would do it in a month or two. Rental market will bottom out. [ Reply | More ]

I'm guessing that many of these expensive new condos aren't selling well, and you should be able to get a good rental deal there, but 2 years tops. [ Reply | More ]

We looked in September/October on purpose, less supply but the prices were way more negotiable because most families have settled down already before the start of the school year. I feel like prices will be negotiable soon, esp if DOE announces remote learning for fall. [ Reply | More ]
