you need an endocrinologist, not a derm. Mine retired. They will run blood tests to see if you have PCOS, or low ferritin (iron). Regardless, they will give you a prescrip for Spironalactone which works somewhat well, and possibly birth control pills. i did see andother Dr who was good but cant recall the name! Years ago. DONT go to a derm. they just give you rogaine and know nothing about hair loss which is generally a hormonal issue for most [ Reply | More ]

Thank you for this information. Years ago my grandmother's heart medicine resulted in a really thick head of hair...I think the medicine was Spironolactone. For the life of me, I haven't been able to remember the name of the drug. I have thinning hair and rograine has helped but hasn't solved the issue. [ Reply | More ]

Second this but I use only once a day. I would also see an endocrinologist. Rogaine made a huge difference for me. Ttook 6 months to see changes. [ Reply | More ]

URBANBABY.NET : yes, it's happening! It will take me some time (a week? 2 weeks maybe) to set it up but I will try to set things so people can register on the site with their email - and then you'll get a notification once it's live. [ Reply | More ]

My dermatologists recommend platelet-rich plasma (or PRP) therapy for female hair loss; dermatology offices have just begun to reopen for elective procedures and that is exactly what PRP is. Platelet-rich plasma therapy uses your own plasma to nourish your scalp. It works for pattern hair loss as well as for temporary shedding caused by stress, illness, nutritional deficiencies, or hormonal changes. S [ Reply | More ]
