applied after the initial time frame. Strategy ideas: tutor for the erbs (I'm serious, ask around), apply widely and don't belive what you read on UB, talk to anhyone you know with kids in private school about schools and processes and recomendations, start a dialogue with your psd so that you are on the same page with reagard to applications, if yo think dc will make maturity improvements, visit schools as late as possible (and don't take the erb/ecaa before end of October) [ Reply | More ]

I run late. I try to be on time, but often fail by 5-15 minutes. It relates to my chronic habit of underestimating how long it takes me to complete a project, run an errand, etc. Sometimes I only give myself the exact amount of time necessary to get someplace without factoring in late trains, no taxis, traffic. For social events, I don't see the point in "rushing" to have a fun lunch or get to a party. My friends know this -- they also know I never care when they run late, change our plans at the last minute, or cancel. When it's important -- like work, dropping/picking up kids at school, an important appointment -- I clear the decks and make sure I'm on time. [ Reply | More ]

ditto. the reason for this is that time doesn't matter much to me. I always aim to be on time but I don't stress out over this to be exact on time. Plus minus 30 minutes is okay in my book. I am always late. Op, you should not take it so personally. I realize that it is a shortcoming on my part, but I am an extremely organized, methodical person and find it hard to move to the next thing without feeling I have adequately completed my immediate tasks. i.e. I cannot stand going out in the morning without making the beds and straightening the apartment, even if it is going to make me late. I suppose it also has to do with difficulty making transitions. It is more complex for some than selfishness. [ Reply | More ]

General Topics 06.18.08, 01:38 PM Flag

that makes no sense. the selfishness has to do with being focused solely on her needs, not being considerate of someone else's time. if two people agree to meet at a mutually agreed upon time, that means they both found a time that works for them. if one person gets caught up with their own things (like making the beds) to the point wher eit can't wait to see the other person, selfish of them to only think of their needs, not other's time. I disagree with this. If you know me you know that even though we agreed on a time I will most likely be a little late. Just build this into the expectation. I think there are two types of people who are chronically late. The first is the type who is generally well meaning but terrible at scheduling, organization, etc and is always harried running from one place to another (like one of my best friends). The second is the type who has no regard for the value of another person's time and never even has the intention of being on time. [ Reply | More ]
