[ - ] question for those w/ 2 under 2: were you able to avoid getting 2 cribs? DD will be 21 months when the new baby arrives, and we are planning on using the cosleeper for the little for the first 4 months or so. Is it feasible to move DD to a bed when she is just over 2 yo? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

DS has been in a twin bed since he was 16 months old - he never really liked or slpet well in the crib. DS #2, may well go into a twin bed at 12 months as we don't have room for a crib. [ Reply | More ]

yes, that's what we did. Used the pack-n-play for first eight months (dc were 15 mos apart) and then moved older dc to bed when she was 2 yo and put younger in the crib. It was fine. [ Reply | More ]

Check out the section on Sleep under "how we can help" at http://www.babycareadvice.com Had this problem with my DD - would fall asleep in my arms and immediately awaken when I would lay her down elsewhere. I think I just kept trying to lay her down and if she kept fussing then I would just let her sleep on me. Eventually, she started staying asleep when laid down in her crib, although not for long. That's my new problem. GL! [ Reply | More ]

i'm really sorry. that was very rude of them. it's such a tough call. my family has been less than supportive about my pregnancy. there are moments when i want to write them off forever. if you think they will listen/care/understand, tell then how you feel and how they hurt you. otherwise, try to surround yourself with other people who are loving and supportive and just be cordial with them to keep the peace. i've come rely on my supportive friends rather than my parents and sister for support. [ - ] Can someone help with transition to big kid bed for my 2 y/o .. we have been living for the last 2 mos in an apt while waiting to close on a new house. She has been sleeping in pack and play for whole time. Once we get into the house we plan on getting her into a twin bed because we have #2 on the way and need the crib starting in September and figured it would be a clean transition for her since she hasn't slept in the crib for 2 mos. Any advice on ways to help her w/transition? 1 Reply [ Reply | Watch | More ]

DD switched at around age 2. We just took down the crib, put up the bed and put her in it. She tried getting out a few times and we just told her "it's night time--time to stay in bed & sleep" the first time out. Any time after that we didn't talk, just walked her back & put her in bed. Didn't take her long to figure it out. [ Reply | More ]

we lived in an apt in an old brownstone and we had this problem before and after the baby was born. go through the apt and put the steel wool in any nook and cranny (if you have a super they can put this silicone type stuff). that will help with the holes. we also had a mouse in our new apt after there was construction down the street, but also found out that there was a huge hole behind the stove - had to have super patch it up. also got cover for the gas stove - since we put the covers on the stove and fixed the hole behind the stove we haven't seen a mouse dropping in months. If you are late, the bus will finish it's route and then come back to your stop. If you are still not there, the bus driver will radio the bus company. If it's a private bus company, the company will call you. If it's a doe bus, they will take your child back to the office of the bus depot. [ Reply | More ]

That is a question for your school. At our school there is a guard who meets the bus and checks off each bus as they arrive, but every school does this differently. Also, at our school, the buses drop off at the back entrance to the school and it is literally two feet from the door. At other schools there may be quite a walk from the drop off point to the actual school door. [ Reply | More ]

Honestly, no. It would only be if your child says something like "my mommy isn't here." They don't check at all on most buses. you could get lucky and get a great driver, but you can't count on this. [ Reply | More ]

No, you are misunderstanding the OR. She is saying that if you think you will be late, contact the school and have them keep your child there in the drop in program. If your child gets on the bus and you are not at the stop, the driver will finish his route and then go back to your stop. If you are still not there, well then you better be in a car accident, but that is pretty inexcusable. But in that unlikely event, the bus goes back to the depot and they call the police. We have a pretty tight bus stop group. We know which kids are supposed to be there in the morning (and call if someone might miss it) and if a dc gets off the bus & there's no adult there, someone stays with the dc at the stop and calls on the cell phone if we have the adult's number.
