Social dilemma: Have two parties on the same night. Which to choose and why? Husband's friend's 40th bday party or husband's co-worker's wedding reception (the actual ceremony is another day.) I am leaving it up to DH to decide, but he can't. TIA [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

so a two hour drive... hmmm... tough call. Could you go to the wedding and feign illness and skip reception and go to 40th? [ Reply | More ]

it's only the reception - there is no ceremony for guests - it's private and on a different day [ Reply | More ]

I would choose a friend's party over a co-worker's party any day; also the bday party is likely to be smaller and more intimate and your presence will be more noted and meaningful for guest of honor. That said, I have been to weddings that were smaller than 40th bday parties too! [ Reply | More ]
