you can probably find a picture on line. The larvar are like small headless worms (tiny) and are beige. The adult beetle is like a tiny beetle. Black or dark brown. They fly. When you squish them, it has an exoskeleton like a beetle. You usually see the "shells" of the larvae in your sock drawer. Like when a snake sheds it skin [ Reply | More ]

I called the zoned school, and they said that the DOE would do it as a transfer when they registered her for the second school. The first school doesn't need to do anything. [ Reply | More ]

Please don't wait for the G&T school to call. They are busy scrambling to get their classes and numbers together. If you can, please notify your zoned school. It really does help them figure out budgets, class configurations, etc. and the earlier the better. Many thanks from a gen'l ed. parent. [ Reply | More ]

The G&T school doesn’t call. When they enter the child’s registration, it comes up as a transfer and they enter the code to permit it (given to them by the DOE). Then the zoned school is notified of the transfer. At this point, there is nothing the zoned school can do to change the registration, only the g&t school can do it. There is no point in calling the zoned school unless they are really behind and haven’t entered your dc’s information yet. [ Reply | More ]

You're assuming the information of transfer is instantaneous, which is a lot to assume based on the DOE's track record. If it's the same to you, call the Gen Ed school once you're registered at your G&T school. Thx. [ Reply | More ]
General Topics 06.18.08, 01:18 PM Flag
»
I did. This IS what the gen ed school is telling me. Once they enter DC's registration, there is nothing they can do until they get the official transfer from the DOE when the second school inputs their registration. After they told me that, I called the DOE and they confirmed it. By all means call your zoned school if you feel like it, but they can't do anything (like admit more kids or set classes) until the transfer goes through, and most don't really want to be bothered talking to you. That makes a lot of sense. There is really no need to keep each school up-to-date as long as DOE's computer system keeps track of every student. [ Reply | More ]

FYI - on Inside Schools someone has posted that when they went to register dc at G&T school, school told them that because DOE over-enrolled, all registrations are "pending", not definite. http://www.insideschools.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3530 [ Reply | More ]

That was one specific school. Since every school has its own registration process it was probably just a one-off event. Once the school realizes that not all of the assigned families will sign up they will turn the "pending" to "registered:. [ Reply | More ]

As long as your dc can fall asleep on their own sometimes ie doesn't always need to be held, rocked etc that is fine. I doubt it. She might notice that you didn't make him a full cooked breakfast though! [ Reply | More ]

ditto - sorry to hear it; tomorrow you should just have an early morning meeting and let the two of them deal with it to see how 'easy' it is - i'm serious - i have done this before when i have had enough of dh [ Reply | More ]

yeah, but ds would be late for camp. Whenever I ask dh to do something related to ds, he F's it up. So I stopped asking him and just do everything myself. [ Reply | More ]

i think the only way to fix this is to let dc be late for camp; he probably f's things up on purpose because then he knows you will do it. [ Reply | More ]

yes yes to let the f-up happen--it's not a safety issue after all. by stepping in to relieve the d?h on every thing he has trouble with (on purpose? even unconsciously so?)you are encouraging, maybe should say enabling, his spoiled prince act. [ Reply | More ]

np. ITTTA. You're being a gatekeeper and you need to stop or things won't improve. And I also agree with the poster above, it might be deliberate on dh's part. [ Reply | More ]

np. BTDT. If your MIL is like mine, all that will do is cause her to criticize you for not being there for your family. [ Reply | More ]

My dh sleeps till 8 and then leisurely takes a shower and goes to work while I get both dc’s ready and take them to school.. When my MIL came into town she said that I am so spoiled since I have a nanny, housekeeper (2x’s a month) and send my laundry out. I’m a WOHM with 3 dc’s and I pay half of everything!! my dh helps out - with some direction -but then leaves for work when he feels like it while i wait for nanny and organize the day for the kids; if he needs to work late he does so - no problem; i have a reduced schedule and come home earlier but sometimes am still dealing with work stuff when i get home - can not stay late as I have to pick up dcs...will never get ahead at work like this and always feel behind. At least once a week I miss more work to do a dr. appt. or school thing and am a year behind on my own appointments. Have been sick for days and still come to work - dh stayed home in bed for two days sick last week while i did everything. My MIL would say the exact same thing - and that i'm not nice enough to DH. he has it made while I run around like a crazy woman. how i would love to just walk out the door in the morning and just come home when i wrap up my day - what a nice simple life. I am in the same boat. Before we had kids my career was ahead of Dh's now I can barely keep my head above water. But I choose to have three dc's and am very happy with our family. Just the day to day gets me down and sometimes my career. [ Reply | More ]

ditto - didn't mean to rant so much above but have had a bad week with lots of extras piled on me and dh just goes along with his business like no big deal. he took dd to dr. appt. once (she has asthma so she goes pretty frequently) and when i asked if he could take her again this week it was like i asked him to split the atom! Why does your dh sleep in until 8 and not help with dc's morning routine if you're both working? Make a schedule where you alternate days, and one of you sleeps late while the other gets dc ready and to school. [ Reply | More ]

mix with smaller qty of over-ripe bananas, puree in blender and put on mocha ice cream! of course, 5 lbs of berries will require you to eat about six gallons of ice cream, but sacrifices are necessary if we are to end waste! [ Reply | More ]
