[ - ] Fortunately, I'm just spiteful and petulant enough that every time someone says, "I'm totally not sexist -- I just don't want to vote for her because she's got such an inflated sense of entitlement, and she's so ambitious, and I don't like her husband, and I don't like that she tries so hard not to look 'soft,' and none of that has anything to do with her being a woman," I feel compelled to put up another blog post saying, "I VOTED FOR CLINTON IN PART BECAUSE I AM SICK OF SEXISM BEING SUCH A NORMAL PART OF OUR CULTURE THAT PEOPLE CAN'T EVEN CONNECT THE FUCKING DOTS THERE." Every time I hear about a woman being afraid to admit she likes Clinton, I feel compelled to put up another post saying, "I VOTED FOR CLINTON, AND I AM NOT ASHAMED." I voted for Clinton, and I am not ashamed. 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Bucks County, in general has pretty great schools (look for any elementary that are feed inot Council Rock, in particular). It isn't really very crunchy in BC (in an UWS sort of way) but you will find an educated crowd. Yardley, Newtown, Holland are worth a look. I knwo people who commute to NY from there. i would feel weird having a preganant woman take care of and clean up after my own kids. but that is just me. if you were a big corp. you could be sued for discrimination if you fire her because she is pregnant. also as a woman where is your compassion. you really shoudl keep her until seh cannot perform her tasks any longer. that is the risk you take in hiring a nanny. they have lives outside of your home and pregnancy is always a possibility. Baker of Rutgers University said Obama's shift makes sense politically. A meeting with Ahmadinejad would be unacceptable to Jewish voters whom Obama wants to court. Promising unconditionally talks with Raul Castro might be unpalatable to Cuban-American voters, he said. "There are mid-course corrections in every campaign," Baker said. It happens to people every day. I am not saying it's easy to deal with and move on. But I think with the passage of time, things DO get a little easier. I have a friend who died 2 years ago suddenly and left a dh and 2 dds, one of whom was just 3 months old. I think about what the dh must be dealing with all the time. Luckily, in their case, he is a really capable person and has a giant support system but I am sure it's still very raw and lonely for him at times but I think he really tries to live like you mentioned above - tries to make decisions they way he would have if his wife were still alive as a way to honor her memory. He had 2 dds to think of...I think he's doing a great job. [ Reply | More ]

A few tricks you may want to try: Pick one or two and be very consisten for a week. 1. Give no attention to her for hitting. 2. Give lots of attention to the one who has been hit. Oh honey, are you hurt, let me see your boo boo. 3. DD is told "hands are for hugging," not " no hitting" when it happens." 4. Catch her being good. Notice when she uses her hands for hugging or being gentle and lavish, lavish praise on her. [ Reply | More ]

state clearly that it is not acceptable. don't over talk it in case there is negative attention associated. mostly though, remove from the situation and redirect until it passes (which may be a long time) and in the mean time make sure that the parents of kids she is hitting hear you telling her and see you acting on it. she will outgrow it if you stick with it, but for some kids it does not stop immediately no matter what you do because they just can't control the impulse until at some point they can...sorry its difficult [ Reply | More ]
