Agreed, but how many times does the issue actually come up for her to know about it? I mean, it isn't like brush your teeth, wash your hands, no hitting, stuff that comes up every day. So if it's a first infraction, you make it absolutely clear that this is forbidden, then move on unless she wants to test you. [ Reply | More ]

"forbidden"? your kid's going to have issues. kids touch. kids experiment. treating it like something AWFUL is shaming very normal, healthy behaviour. [ Reply | More ]
General Topics 05.27.08, 09:19 PM Flag
»
"forbidden" may have been an extreme word---but my point is the same as yours--that there is no way to know that such behavior is not acceptable before the fact, and once it happens, let them know it's not okay. I do think you need to let an 8-year-old know it is not acceptable in our society to go around yanking on boys' penises, you just don't need to freak about it. [ Reply | More ]

another anderson parent and I agree. she makes it seem like her own private kingdom. guess what, I have an incoming sib, and she had better not mention her views about the policy to me. so tired of the sense of entitlement and ownership around there. she makes it sound like her mission in life to guard the purity of the lineage or something. frankly, I have seen first hand a number of kids who were not especially gifted at the school, and I am tired of the reverence required by people like donna for the school's "mission" [ Reply | More ]

I am happy to have a decent public school for BOTH dcs. I see no reason to leave. So, the administration of the school should always follow like happy little sheep, every decision of the DOE? Budget cuts? Curricular inanities? There have been THOUSANDS of bad policies, ridiculous regulations and damaging practices touted by the DOE. Every school that objects MUST stand up and say so. I would start with cutting out the "least important" nursing sessions or the "random" ones. So keep bedtime/naptime and waking and cut out midday. See how that goes and then maybe eliminate another one. Most moms I know who EN, get it down to nap/bedtime/wake-up by 2-2 1/2 yo and then decide how long they want to continue with that for. Cape May, Spring Lake (restaurants in nearby towns), Ocean Grove (it's a dry town but quaint/a little weird and there are pretty good restaurants in Asbury Park, surroundng towns, etc.) [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] DH sulks for a day or two when he is angry with me about something. I try to approach him but he doesnt let down. Its so annoying. Why cant we be adults and talk about things? I feel like he is my 3rd child. 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

This is my DH. So infuriating. I've told him what I think of it and that each time he does it, I care less, but he is permanently a teenager. [ Reply | More ]

My dh does this too. Try to ignore his passive-aggressiveness. [ Reply | More ]
