mine is 2.8 y/o and is a great kid. but i feel like she is MORE messy now than ever before. because she can do so many things by herself but has a pretty high error rate, you know? and then, to clean up after herself, she's willing but needs supervision to do so, which sometimes feels like more work rather than less. we have a small home and i keep a basket at the bottom of the stairs for things that need to go upstairs eventually. but otherwise i'm just waiting it out and trying to be patient. FWIW, we had our place professionally babyproofed (had stairs, so needed someone to come in and do the gates), and it was only really necessary for the time between 13mo (when dc started to walk) and 2yo, at which point he was no longer interested in all that crap and didn't touch it. In other words, do as much "temporary" babyproofing as you can, knowing you can put everything back eventually. [ Reply | More ]

there is something called cyclothymia and there is bipolar disorder I and bipolar disorder II - not all of the bipolar disorders have the major swings that most associate with the name. [ Reply | More ]

what type of therapist are you seeing? FWIW, a diagnosis of bipolar disorder should be made and managed by a psychiatrist. Not to mention that there is no such diagnosis called "minor bipolar disorder" [ Reply | More ]

I've been diagnosed as bipolar 2, and the diagnosis totally fits. My mood swings are dominated by depression, and then out of no where I'll be slightly manic. People who are bipolar 2 have shorter, less intense mania than people who are bipolar 1, and according to my (now former) psychiatrist, tend to have more depression than mania. Plus, a good amount of time I'm just "regular". I was really upset with the diagnosis, and have had no issues over the past 8 months, but I know that the swings will be back one day! [ Reply | More ]

ita. its one thing if friend is having tough time and you know up front you will be paying, but to say she will pick it up, pick high end, and then just sit there is beyond rude and taking advantage of you. [ Reply | More ]

Yikes. This is what I would do. I would email her and tell her that you are a little annoyed and confused and then say what you just said (about you picking up tab first night and her picking up tab second night). I would tell her I value her friendship, but you need to be remibursed. [ Reply | More ]

My feelings are, you two are friends, you have history and no one should ever fight over money. You tell her your side, she tells you hers, you work it out. Its not that big of a deal [ Reply | More ]

If the purpose of the trip was for 2 of you to get together, she did pay airfare. financially, it's fair. Did she want to see NYC and asked you if she could stay with you or did she come out to see you? When my friend flies over from CA, I pay for all meals (we don't go to high end). She offers to pay but I grab the bill before she can. I think it's only fair that she was nice enough to fly over to where I am. [ Reply | More ]

I would not ask for a reimbursement. it will make you look petty, u should have not paid in the first place. If you guys are really close you should ask her why she picked such a pricey place. [ Reply | More ]

ITA, let it go. It would make me crazy too and, in hindsight, you could have said, "Hey, thanks for offering to buy dinner tonight," and handed her the check. But I probably would have done exactly what OP did, and then steamed about it. [ Reply | More ]
