Think our apt is a deathtrap - big art leaning on floors, huge bookshelves, lots of electronic equipment - how do I babyproof this place? Has anyone used a service? Is that totally princessy? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

we haven't done a ton of babyproffing, we just don't leave db alone and did a crawl around of the floor. [ Reply | More ]

there's no need to hire a service. just go to a babyproofing website -- i think goodhousekeeping.com has one and it tells you everything you need to do. i think there's one on babycenter, too [ Reply | More ]

FWIW, we had our place professionally babyproofed (had stairs, so needed someone to come in and do the gates), and it was only really necessary for the time between 13mo (when dc started to walk) and 2yo, at which point he was no longer interested in all that crap and didn't touch it. In other words, do as much "temporary" babyproofing as you can, knowing you can put everything back eventually. [ Reply | More ]

np - honestly, not that hard to install gates on stairs, no need for a service for this. [ Reply | More ]

I've never drilled a screw in straight in my life. It was a choice between having the things put in right for a couple hundred bucks or having them all wobbly and not exactly safe. Also, I live in a prewar with uneven baseboards and old stair rails that the thing had to attach to. Not exactly a cinch. [ Reply | More ]
