Went to park slope today to look at potentially moving there from Manhattan - have to say I was not really impressed. Some blocks were beautiful but South Slope is not that great, and the new construction was crappy. Am I missing something? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

where in Wash heights? If you're in the Hudson heights area, there is more than one new restaurant, coffee place, etc on the brink of opening up right now... [ Reply | More ]

We're in the lower 160's - keep thinking that it's coming, but the OC just closed on Edgecomb and I am discouraged (though I love the winebar on 170th) [ Reply | More ]

PS is like every other neighborhood on the planet - good areas and bad. FWIW, if you're looking for something more affordable, try Astoria [ Reply | More ]

Of course South Slope is not great. It's not zoned for good schools either. You gotta look at North Slope (that's what people think of when they say park slope). If you can't afford it, look at center slope but I'd only go to NS. [ Reply | More ]

Much of north slope isn't zoned for good schools either. Signed 7th and Sterling. [ Reply | More ]

trees, great architecture, individually owned boutiques and restaurants, lots and lots of families, a real neighborhood (albeit a very large one), proximity to prospect park, etc. [ Reply | More ]

Maybe I'm not digging on brownstone living - prefer a great pre-war apt with doormen [ Reply | More ]

try Eastern Parkway in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, around the corner from P.S. & several great PreWar apt bldgs. What is your budget? How much space do you want? How old are dcs? [ Reply | More ]

You might like Cobble Hill better. It's more consistently pretty. There's a restaurant scene there, and it's near Smith Street. PS 29 is a great school, as is PS 58. PS 261 is pretty good, so watch those school zone lines when you look. [ Reply | More ]
