Anyone on who knows a thing or two about parakeets? Someone gave me one today, as a gift for ds. He's cute and just moves back and forth in the cage, seems happy, he sings a lot... They also gave me some food for it. But just not sure what is the best way to take care of this kind of pet... I had cats and dogs only. Do I need to talk to a parakeet, he seems to want attention (ds has already lost interest in it) anything in particular I should know? Maybe he needs a pal, or will he do OK on his own? Is the cage big enough? Sorry, but I really want to take care of it as best as possible.Thanks [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

wow. what a strange gift to give. did you ask for one? I would look online or go to a pet store and ask. some birds like to be in pairs but I believe a parakeet is better alone (will become more social with you). [ Reply | More
