[ - ] I really hope we get out letter by Sat. We have K orientation at our zoned school on Monday morning, which also houses the G&T program. I don't want to take ds there and then find out we didn't get out 1st choice. I want to take him there on monday morning and know that is where he is going 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

[ - ] I need to chat with a sympathetic UB mom. Here is my dilemma. WOH, can afford to be SAH but find it mind numbing and am scared I would be a resentful mommy to my beautiful and smart 4 YO DS...yet I can't escape the tiny voice in my head that says I'm terrible for not spending this time with him. This makes me so sad. He has always prefered DH and I think SAH would change this yet I fear I'll turn into a yeller with a short fuse....sigh. 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

we all have the same dilemma, I'm the poster who just went back to work with a 9mo - by choice. I love my db to death but I was just so very bored at home with him. I chose a job way below what I could have gotten in order to have a more flexible schedule, and to me that's the appropriate compromise (for now). At home, I felt like my whole life was about him, and I don't think that is necessary in order to be a good parent. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Friend just had a baby and is very into everything natural/organic. She had the perfect natural birth. I had a very complicated pregnancy and ended up with C-Section. Not sure if she realizes there is so much that factors in when you're giving birth. I did everything I thought would help me have a healthy baby. I would have loved to have a natural birth. Not sure she realizes how that comes across. It's like everyone that thinks everyone should breast feed when it doesn't work for all women. 19 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

i hate to say it, but most first time mothers are kind of clueless about what they say. i had a c with my first, and I struggled. if you find yourself overly sensitive about what she is saying, find someone to help you come to terms with it. but be prepared-i had a friend lecture me on bf and nipple confusion-she who had no kids, no medical background, etc while I had ebf my 2 kids each to a yr. she had a big wakeup call when she had her kids. i try not to secretly gloat but still, just shows how humbling parenting can b [ Reply | More ]

It sounds to me like the person you are most angry with is yourself, for allowing all those interventions to happen and therefore not getting the birth you wanted. It also sounds like you either don't really like your friend very much or perhaps are just not able to be a good friend to her at the moment. Either way, if you cannot give her your joy, I would give her some space, at least until you deal with your own stuff. Sorry, but that's what I think. [ Reply | More ]

Just my two cents, but I don't think eating organically and avoiding hormones and pesticides in pregnancy is worthless. In fact, I think it's very possible that people who do these things often end up with healthier births and healthier children. Our bodies are so finely tuned. Why pretend it doesn't matter what we put into them? As if everything will work just as it should even when we're loaded up with crap? I think that's the height of hubris. A little off topic, but still. [ Reply | More ]

do 3 or 4 3-mile runs per week, then once a week do a run that is a little bit longer. Don't run more than 5 days per week or you may get hurt. If you add a half mile to each weekly run, you should be fine. And if you have to walk a little, it is ok. I am sure you will be able to do the 10k. [ Reply | More ]
