I need to chat with a sympathetic UB mom. Here is my dilemma. WOH, can afford to be SAH but find it mind numbing and am scared I would be a resentful mommy to my beautiful and smart 4 YO DS...yet I can't escape the tiny voice in my head that says I'm terrible for not spending this time with him. This makes me so sad. He has always prefered DH and I think SAH would change this yet I fear I'll turn into a yeller with a short fuse....sigh. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

WAHM here - I'm going to find a way to get back to my office a couple days a week in the fall. Have been home with my awesome soon to be 4yo and I am now at the point where I am depressed. we all have the same dilemma, I'm the poster who just went back to work with a 9mo - by choice. I love my db to death but I was just so very bored at home with him. I chose a job way below what I could have gotten in order to have a more flexible schedule, and to me that's the appropriate compromise (for now). At home, I felt like my whole life was about him, and I don't think that is necessary in order to be a good parent. [ Reply | More
