children will eat when they get hungry enough. You offer healthy foods throughout the day and don't make a big deal out of it. At some point, depending on age - you offer healthy meals three times a day - they eat or they don't. No big deal. No negotiation. [ Reply | More ]

A friend of mine does - it causes her no end of stress! But ultimately the other posters are right. Just offer as much healthful food as you can, limit sweets, and go over your concerns with your doctor. If it is a real problem, your dr can refer you to a feeding/nutrition clinic for advice and help. [ Reply | More ]

honestly, its not a good thing. I don't know to what extent its "bad". But people have an innate ability to know when they are full. You yourself eat more on some days than others, so why screw around with that and force child not to trust his/her body? Its just fuel. Take a much or as little as you need. Helping children grow up familiar with healty food choices and the ability to know when they are full and when they are hungry is the best thing parents can do for them (in the area of eating - not in the whole of life) [ Reply | More ]

I've been trained in journalism and pr so I'm the pain in the a-- mom asking lots of questions and never feeling satisfied. It seemed that the daycare manager was threatening me to go elsewhere today more than assuaging my concerns. I was concerned that all the construction workers don't stream into her daycare. She told me that only the foreman does & the rest use a port a pottie. Well, I asked a man going into the daycare (w/o a child) if he was the foreman. He was rude to me when I was asking--again--if his workers come inside. Well, come to find out, when the daycare manager came to talk to me after that (because she was upset I spoke with him and upset I called him rude when he was rude) she says the OWNER and the FOREMAN come into building. Which is not what she told me a week ago. I loathe that my daughter has to go to a place that simply wants to expand her daycare to earn more dollars. My tuition increase is going to build the addition on the place! DD is only nearly 11 months old. Thanks for listening. 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

the kids change too, but wasn't it all in the papers about how scores went up this year? [ Reply | More ]

When the papers say that, generally they're talking about the poorly performing schools doing better. What you are talking about - Anderson or LL kids scoring a 4 in ELA - is really neither here nor there. The kids are doing fantastically really. [ Reply | More ]

But fifth grade scores should be huge focus for Anderson, as most of those kids want a shot at Hunter which uses fifth grade scores to invite kids. [ Reply | More ]

To qualify for Hunter, a dc needs to score in the top 10% of that year - not a straight score cut-off. So if the test was difficult, it would be difficult for all the 5th graders. [ Reply | More ]

Those aren't the correct stats for Anderson. [ Reply | More ]

can you use the number of children tested to tell us how many actually scored a 3? If you have a class of 2 and one gets a 3 and one gets a 4 - then you get 50%. How did it shake down with a class of 56? [ Reply | More ]

You can just look at the data. What grade and math or ELA? I'll do it for you if you want. [ Reply | More ]

Its not important - I was just saying % don't mean as much as saying 50 children scored a 4 and 6 children scored a 3. [ Reply | More ]

These are all "4" scores. No "3" scores in this thread. [ Reply | More ]

The point of the op is that there were too many 3's and not enough 4's, lol [ Reply | More ]

The OP was also not looking at the right numbers anyway. [ Reply | More ]

Didn't you read all the posts that followed your original post? You're not looking at the G&T only scores. [ Reply | More ]

Sure I did - but are you looking at another set of numbers at or are you extrapolating based on your knowledge of the number of special eds? Please point me to the right numbers if they exist- my dc is at lab in G&T and lots of 3s in reading regardless of the small number of special ed children. [ Reply | More ]
