NP: well, being undernourished isn't good either, so you have to push at some point [ Reply | More ]

children will eat when they get hungry enough. You offer healthy foods throughout the day and don't make a big deal out of it. At some point, depending on age - you offer healthy meals three times a day - they eat or they don't. No big deal. No negotiation. [ Reply | More ]

creating a power struggle will get you nowhere with most kids. [ Reply | More ]

watch milk consumption- make sure they're not getting full on milk, and other than that, put out healthy food, wait. [ Reply | More ]

no different from feeding your dog. You put it down, they eat or not, you take it up. repeat. [ Reply | More ]

A friend of mine does - it causes her no end of stress! But ultimately the other posters are right. Just offer as much healthful food as you can, limit sweets, and go over your concerns with your doctor. If it is a real problem, your dr can refer you to a feeding/nutrition clinic for advice and help. [ Reply | More ]

how's dc's weight? if that's ok, i'd say as others have, wait. if not, hmm, not sure. i'd try to keep testing new things to find something appealing. or, god forbid (someone will tell me this is a bad idea) offering rewards/bribes if he heats [ Reply | More ]

ok, food is the thing that keeps us alive - it is not a reward or a punishment - it is more like air. Something we need to live - and we should not add on any other attributes. [ Reply | More ]

honestly, its not a good thing. I don't know to what extent its "bad". But people have an innate ability to know when they are full. You yourself eat more on some days than others, so why screw around with that and force child not to trust his/her body? Its just fuel. Take a much or as little as you need. Helping children grow up familiar with healty food choices and the ability to know when they are full and when they are hungry is the best thing parents can do for them (in the area of eating - not in the whole of life) [ Reply | More ]
