go slower. keep it at 2x a day until boobs adjust, then go down to one. adjust, then to the end. take a hot shower and express a bit if you're in a lot of pain. i still remember the last time dd nursed -- i had to ask her to nurse a bit to relieve the discomfort so she did and that was it. so sweet! Yup, I've had one (or as least it was noticed) 11 years ago. Never has grown, or caused a problem but they need to track it via sonogram every few years to make they don't grow. If they grow, it does NOT mean it's cancer, but sometimes you have to remove them so they don't twist. My sister's dermoid had to be removed, but was not major surgery. Do not worry. Seriously common and not a problem. [ Reply | More ]

As we all know, most vaccines work out fine for most kids. I am personally more comfortable with a delayed/split-up vaccination schedule, so I go to a pediatrician who's willing to work with me on that. I basically follow Dr. Sears' recommendations for an alternative schedule and I feel much better about it. If you're concerned, just delay one or two of them for another 6 months or so. i would separate MMR and chicken pox. The CDC guideline is 4-6yo for the boosters for both of those, so you could do MMR at 5yo and chicken ppx at 6 yo and not even necessitate an extra peds visit. Our Ped does those plus DTP at 4 yo visit. We just did DPT and will do MMR next year and Chicekn Pox the year after. I won't do all that aluminum at once and I won't do 2 live vaccines at once. Statistics put the odds of dying on a commercial aircraft flight at about 9 million to one. And when planes do crash, usually everyone dies, carseat or no. You are most likely to be injured on a runway exit upon landing, followed by a runway landing on takeoff, followed by turbulence, followed by mechanical failure, followed by pilot error, then collision. Death is far less likely than injury, of course. The specific odds depend on the nexus and the parameters. Most studies use all commercial (passenger, cargo, and other). [ Reply | More ]

Airlines don't set the rules. The FAA does. But the FAA has a long history of having very bad regulations. [ Reply | More ]

What's their incentive? Buying a seat for an infant costs the same. They are losing money by you holding the infant. [ Reply | More ]

Fewer families would fly if they had to buy the seat. Many airlines charge only half price for the baby's seat -- but it's the whole family flying that makes the difference. [ Reply | More ]

This is simple. If the flight is delayed on the tarmac and you are stuck on the plane for 12 hours, will you regret not having the seat? [ Reply | More ]

If it's completely safe to hold a baby in your arms on a plane, then why the arbitrary cutoff at 2? Why not let parents hold toddlers, or even small preschoolers? Heck, why have anyone buy their own seat if you can sit on someone else's lap the whole way if you're cheap like that? [ Reply | More ]

The issue is - many infants will not sit in a carseat right next to their Mother - they just won't - they will scream and cry because they want their Mommy, and Mommies should be allowed to hold their babies, if need be. [ Reply | More ]

you'll probably pick you kids up half way through the flight anyways and hold them...I fly to SEattle all the time I always have a kid on my lap, your arms will hurt but it's not bad, just don't drink alot cause if you have to pee and they are asleep on you lap... [ Reply | More ]

My dh and I are the opposite -- he's the one who goes out more. I don't really have any friends that I go out with on a regular basis. I'd be annoyed if it was once a week, especially if it meant I had to do more around the house, with DCs. [ Reply | More ]
