at five there's no risk of autism that I know of. Why separate out? [ Reply | More ]

dc is much younger, and I am splitting them up now. At five I wouldn't bother. [ Reply | More ]

All the boosters have to be given within a certain time frame from the last one, so you can't really postpone them by very much. She would probably rather get it over with then have to go back to finish [ Reply | More ]

I was happy to get it over with at one visit. Had no problem. [ Reply | More ]

ugh - yes she got them all. plus - they'd added on by that time - the Hep A I think (we travel to S. American regularly so went ahead with it.) I was happy to get them over and done with in one visit. DD - not so happy. [ Reply | More ]

As we all know, most vaccines work out fine for most kids. I am personally more comfortable with a delayed/split-up vaccination schedule, so I go to a pediatrician who's willing to work with me on that. I basically follow Dr. Sears' recommendations for an alternative schedule and I feel much better about it. If you're concerned, just delay one or two of them for another 6 months or so. i would separate MMR and chicken pox. The CDC guideline is 4-6yo for the boosters for both of those, so you could do MMR at 5yo and chicken ppx at 6 yo and not even necessitate an extra peds visit. Our Ped does those plus DTP at 4 yo visit. We just did DPT and will do MMR next year and Chicekn Pox the year after. I won't do all that aluminum at once and I won't do 2 live vaccines at once.
