Yup, I've had one (or as least it was noticed) 11 years ago. Never has grown, or caused a problem but they need to track it via sonogram every few years to make they don't grow. If they grow, it does NOT mean it's cancer, but sometimes you have to remove them so they don't twist. My sister's dermoid had to be removed, but was not major surgery. Do not worry. Seriously common and not a problem. [ Reply | More ]

My sister's was pretty big (size of an orange) and mine very small, but I can't remember the size. The important thing to remember is that they're benign, and they stay benign. [ Reply | More ]

my sister had abdominal pain, she was 23 yo. the dr told her it was a dermoid cyst and said to leave it alone. but it was really painful for her so she removed it. non cancer and size of a grape. 1 week recovery. although i had a colleague who was out of work for 4 months recovering from a huge, twisted dermoid cyst surgery..
