[ - ] I have a 6 1/2 month old ds. I am wondering why he does this. He doesn't really like to sit (I have to put him in a sitting position myself and, even then, he tries to come out of it). Crawling seems very far away. He wants to stand all the time though I know it is important that he learns to sit and crawl first. When did your dbs first sit by themselves? Anyone else have a kid like this? He keeps his arms out to his side stiffly in a crucifix position and he doesn't sit easily. 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I've always read that some kids skip crawling altogether. I don't think it's "important" that they crawl first. Btw, my dd will be 7 months in 2 days, still doesn't sit on her own, has to really be propped up and certainly can't get into a sitting position on her own. [ Reply | More ]

my ds has been in love with standing since about 5 mo. he never did much sitting. he started crawling at 6.5 mo. Even then, it took him a while to understand he could get to seated position from there. just was never his favorite. He just walked this morning at 8 mo [ Reply | More ]

I kind of hate that kids wait for nothing these days. They get toys without asking, rewards without behaving, see movies before they are old enough, etc. It seems like there is no, "when you are older!" anymore. I have nothing against those Jeeps per se (other than the big plastic/battery issue which I could get over easily.) But this seems to fall into that same category. You want a go-kart? Make one. Can't figure out how? Ask dad/read a book or just wait till you are older. [ Reply | More ]

"haven't been totally proven" isn't exactly reassuring. OBs are going off their experience with kids they deliver. How are they going to know that 5-7 years after they said it was ok for you to drink 1-2 glasses a week that your kid was diagnosed with ADD? [ Reply | More ]

the point is, they are telling you moderate alcohol is fine, because they don't see the effects of it in their practice. The only thing that they will see is severe fetal alcohol syndrome, of course moderate drinking isn't going to cause that. [ Reply | More ]

I have been eating just about everything in moderation - trying to keep the cheese pasturized but i love cheese too much to give it up completely. I've never liked deli meat but if I did I'd eat it. I also eat the occasional piece of sushi because I adore it and sometimes have terrible cravings, but only from places I know are very good, and not high-mercury fish. Also have been having a bit of wine since 2nd trimester - 1 glass a week at most, usually less. [ Reply | More ]
