I have a 6 1/2 month old ds. I am wondering why he does this. He doesn't really like to sit (I have to put him in a sitting position myself and, even then, he tries to come out of it). Crawling seems very far away. He wants to stand all the time though I know it is important that he learns to sit and crawl first. When did your dbs first sit by themselves? Anyone else have a kid like this? He keeps his arms out to his side stiffly in a crucifix position and he doesn't sit easily. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I've always read that some kids skip crawling altogether. I don't think it's "important" that they crawl first. Btw, my dd will be 7 months in 2 days, still doesn't sit on her own, has to really be propped up and certainly can't get into a sitting position on her own. [ Reply | More ]

my ds has been in love with standing since about 5 mo. he never did much sitting. he started crawling at 6.5 mo. Even then, it took him a while to understand he could get to seated position from there. just was never his favorite. He just walked this morning at 8 mo [ Reply | More ]

Meh, my 7.5 month old is a great sitter, seems interested in crawling and can do it backwards a little but ADORES being on his feet. Who cares? [ Reply | More ]

both my dcs started trying to stand at 4 mos; dc#2 didn't really sit well or crawl till 8 mos. I wouldn't worry about it. [ Reply | More ]

nothing wrong with this. my oldest barely sat, he also wanted to pull up and stand a lot from an early age, and was an early walker. and it is not really important what order these things happen. [ Reply | More ]
