strollers get broken easily. I always took mine apart and put it back in the original box for air travel. You car seat has to be flight approved. There should be a label on the side/back or bottom sayin if it is. Sometimes a picture of an airplane. IF it is then it will fit. [ Reply | More ]

i always gate check the stroller as having it in the airport is pretty necessary. that being said, i got the volo for travel bc i didn't want to deal w the $300 techno getting damaged. the onyl thing to happen to the volo was one brake broke off and that was pretty cheap to get fixed. if you are goign to travel w a more expensive maclaren, get the travel bag AND still gate check it. [ - ] No flames please -- I'm thinking about starting my 4 yo ds in the Suzuki program. Anyone else out there who enrolled their kid in Suzuki that early or did Suzuki themselves around that age? Am I making a mistake starting ds that young? My ds definitely is interested in music and claims he wants to learn the violin, although I don't think he actually understands what lessons would be like. I don't want to start ds too early and then have him tire of it early. The director of the program evaluated my ds, btw, and says he's ready. 10 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I would stay away from Suzuki. It is ear-training, which is why children begin younger, but it really sets you back when you need to learn to read music. I learned the piano beginning at age 4, but my sister did suzuki violin at the same age. She never could read music, whereas I started in a basic kindermusik class and learned to read music around 5-6 [ Reply | More ]

I started the violin at 4 and hated it. I really don;t think that most (American) 4 years old have the necessary coordination required. After playing the piano for a few years between 6 & ( I then went on to a brass instrument that I played for the next 15 years. Of course to each their own but be careful not to force it if you are getting some negative reaction after you start him. [ Reply | More ]

i find it best to let ds have an active morning (lots of running) so that he gets tired and then to leave in time for a late nap (ds napped 1-3, so say 2pm) so ds would nap until at least 4, and then stop for dinner (say for an hour around 6pm) and get back on the road around 7pm to arrive by 9pm. often times ds would fall asleep again by 8pm or so. that would mean i only really had to keep him entertained for a couple of hours after nap and then a couple after dinner. after nap he was rested and in a good mood and after dinner he was starting to get tired again. DVD player is really helpful too. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Avoid Comic Jumps!!!! I just wanted to warn other sf bay area moms that if they need to rent a bounce house then they should not go through Comic Jumps. In a nutshell, I booked them a month in advance. I expected them to show up at 12:00 on the day of the party, and they finally arrived 3 hours late!! I didn't think we should have to pay full price since the party was ending. They offered no discounts or other options and instead called it a "refusal of delivery" and charged us a cancellation fee. So overall, we were charged for a bounce house that we never got to use. They were unsympathetic and offered no apologies. Save yourself the heartache and go through ANY OTHER jumper company!!! 15 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I would like to start by saying that we have apologized to this customer a number of times, on the phone and through a number of review websites where she posted negative reviews about our service. I’ll explain again what our side of the story is. A few days after she placed her order either she or her husband called us to change the delivery time and we did that for them. So the first automated email she received shows delivery between 12-1pm and when they called the second time the delivery time was changed to 1-2pm. On the day of the event we had two of our trucks brake down on the road that day one of them was a new truck that had transmission issues that were due to some manufacturing defects and the other was a rental truck that was replacing one of our trucks due to it being out for maintenance at the dealership. We have never experienced this in the past because we keep our trucks maintained to the highest standards and we can’t see what we could have done to prevent this from happening but we learned from it, and we now have a back up vehicle of our own to cover incase this happens again. Also when I talked to her husband I explained all of this over the phone to him and I apologized and when he called me again going off on me using curse words I informed him that they can cancel the order and receive a refund and he said “just hurry up and get here” I informed him that the drivers are on there way. So when our driver got there they wanted to cancel and I informed them of the cancellation fee, and the only reason the cancelation fee applies due to us driving out to the park and spending time and fuel to service there party the way her husband asked us to within a few minutes of our phone conversation. I was willing to give them the rental at a discounted price to compensate them for the delay and their disappointment but all they wanted is a full refund and the rental. They also disputed the charges through their credit card so I was not able to issue any refunds at the time do to their request for the chargeback. We didn’t dispute the charge back so they have a full refund and I hope we can come to some sort of resolution regarding this matter. [ Reply | More ]

a discount is meaningless when you're hours late for a kids birthday party. those things last 2 hours -- you showed up after it was over. i doubt the bounce house or whatever is something that has a use outside a birthday party, so why should they pay even a discounted price? if i rented a bounce house it would be THE entertainment for the party. if it failed to show up, the party would be completely different and significantly less fun -- i wouldn't expect to pay anything. Here is my story. I booked about a month before the event. The day before the event I had to call them in order to confirm my order. I ordered ballons and a jump house from them. They did confirm that they were going to be ther between 10-11am. PArty at 12-5. We are on Kiddy time so people came early. I called at 1030am. no answer called every 5 minutes then and still no answer. Then I finally got a hold of somebody around 1130am and they said that they were on their way. Party is already starting at 12 and still no bounce house. Called again and no answer.. kept calling every minute and kept leaving messages since the kids are all asking about the bounce house and their balloons. Finally got a hold of someone at 1245pm... I am now yelling at them.. they told me that driver was 5 minutes away.... 1:00pm still no show....called again cant get a hold of someone till 145pm. They finally came around 2pm...The balloon I recieved were not the right ones and some even came in half way deflated, I didnt get some of the balloons that I ordered.Particularly the #1 Balloon. Some of the kids had to leave the party before the party ended and did not have a chance to see the bounce house. WHen I called the owner to discuss it. He was very rude. Told me they run out of some of the baloons that I ordered. But why wasnt I informed. Everything would have been great and I would have calmed down if they at least appologized and admited their mistake. But All I got was a screaming owner who should know better than to scream at his customer. He knew that he was at fault but just didnt want to admit it. The worst part is that I never got a refund for the balloons that I never received. SO DISSAPOINTED.... [ Reply | More ]

your greatest ambition should be your happiness. if being less stressed and making your family happy brings you joy, then you have all the reason in the world to be content with what you desire from life. i hate to ask such a personal question, but have you had to suffer considerable pain or adversity in your life? i find that people who have struggled with great personal difficulties, particularly while young, simply do not have the strength for certain things later in life, i.e. working fulltime or being Type A.
