I just had a terrible time with her. I was to have an ovarian cyst removed and she showed up the morning of the operation in a terrible mood, complaining that "she just hoped the the cyst hadn't resolved itself or wasn't too small to be found", and then proceeded to completely louse everything up. It was to be a two-four our laporascopy and I ended up in the hospital for three days with a ten inch scar down my belly. [ Reply | More ]

Not likely to get into Hunter (odds) but dc is very advanced ( started reading at 1.5yo and figured out multiplication at 2yo). Not sure if G&T/Anderson have the resources for a dc like that. Wonder if private schools might be better plus if they might give FA (maybe half) - HHI is $90k. You should look at the girls' schools then. Look at Spence, Chapin, Brearley, Nightingale Bamford, Marymount. I'd look at CGPS as they are generous with aid and have a good student-teacher ratio. Are you apply this fall? GL [ Reply | More ]

We visited a district G&T (ps 153) that was very, very open to accelerating kids by jumping them ahead in grades for specific subjects. Open up as many options as you can. Citywide G&T is likely better able to accommodate than a zoned school, even though if your child, is in the 'profoundly gifted' range is likely to be well beyond others in the same class. Apply to privates as well and take the best option available. [ Reply | More ]
