He has always had separation anxiety that has interferred with him having any fun.He refuses to take any classes unless we are allowed to participate with him. He's even nervous if we're sitting on the sidelines. He has cried every single morning for the past 2.5 years when we bring him to preschool and then pre-K. I toured lots of school last fall, Trinity included. It's an excellent fairly traditional school. A little formal. Big on building solid skills in the early years. My sense is they have a very good idea of the skill level of each child. I did not seem like a creative school to me at all. Nice music program (but very traditional). If you have a very arty dc, might not be the best fit. Virtually no spots for anyone after siblings and legacies. [ Reply | More ]

Considered "TT". Very hot right now, mostly because it's impossible to get into, thereby increasing its desirability status to "wildly popular". Of all the schools we toured, probably the one that had the most elitist feel, but then of course, that's probably part of their allure for many. If you do want to apply, you have to submit the application either the day or the day after it's available online and preferably by hand. [ Reply | More ]

Like: strong sib policy (but if your dc is non sib, almost impossible to get in) which means sib doesn't need very high ERB. People seem gentle. They don't stress competition and college placement. Indoor pool Dislike: too, too, too quiet. All the kids (even K and 1st graders) were super duper quiet. Won't be right for some kids. Aging/old teachers/staff. During the tour, one of the teachers said something strange but reflects the 50's values. [ Reply | More ]

I toured and for the hell of it, applied. It felt very conformist to me, like they had an idea of what kids should be like and they would mold the kids to fit that idea. And it wasn't my idea. there were first grade compositions about the vacations the kids took - St. Moritz, Rome, Paris, Bali, etc. Other privates would pick a different topic. All that said, it seemed well run. [ Reply | More ]

too quiet means that the kids are not really encouraged to be kids. they are the kids you see walking down the street with a bland look on their faces, staring off into space, holding the nannies hand. as for art, there are plenty of opportunities to make art; however, creativity is not encouraged. more formal instruction (ie, everyone instructed on how to paint a still life, etc.) [ Reply | More ]

I've seen about 4-5 classes at Trinity and it was just very, very quiet. Everyone sitting down by their desks or by activity table and not talking. In one middle school class, some questions were asked by students but still very quiet. The teachers speak very softly. I think they value softspokenness and quiet. One must whisper. [ Reply | More ]

my nephew used to throw up ALL the time when he was a baby/toddler whenever he was upset. my dds never did this and in fact, have rarely thrown up in their lives (only had a few stomach bugs) which is a good thing because i hate it. whatever, i thought it was so weird that my nephew did this all the time but one day i asked the ped. who said exactly the same thing as you did about the gag reflex. after a few yrs. my nephew outgrew it and is your average 10 y.o. who only will throw up if, indeed, he is sick. so, i'm sure it's no need to worry. it isn't the most pleasant, but there is light at the end of the tunnel (imo.) not unless it becomes a problem. I know my dh occaasionally looks at porn. I just look the other way. its not an issue and doesn't affect our sex life or relationship [ Reply | More ]

no, all men look at porn and they've been doing it since they were 12, this has nothing to do with your sex life with him. [ Reply | More ]

no, it is because no matter how much you want to have sex with dh it probably isn't enough for him. For men there is much more of a biological need to get off [ Reply | More ]

No, all people need sex. It is also normal for men and women to look at porn together as a form of foreplay. [ Reply | More ]

I think this is your issue. You feel insecure but you really should not. I think in this day and age, porn is much more mainstream and very easy to access. It is not like before where he would have to search it out in some nasty store. You and DH are not living together full time and it makes sense. It is a much better solution than cheating. I think you should relax. I know it is hard to do but it really isn't about you. DOnt worry!! [ Reply | More ]

i agree that it is not big deal, unless is becomes a complusion, involves underage kids etc. most, if not all, men watch porn at some point or another. my cable bill was through the roof when i was pg bc all i did was sleep the first 3 months and dh watched porn while i was sleeping. I also agree that it usually has nothing to do with a couples sex life, but do believe that some men and women expect their sex life to be like porn. [ Reply | More ]

I don't see how *anyone* could "expect their sex life to be like porn." If my sex life were like porn, I would be having sex with lots of men who are extremely well endowed,in addition to having several lesbian relationships with women who have huge breasts. The men would be pizza delivery guys, who drop off the pizza and immediately decide to have sex with me, they would also be police officers who arrest me, take me to a cell and have wild sex with me in the cell, and neighbors who come over to borrow something, but who are ready to drop their pants in an instant. And of course I would be wildly moaning in ecstacy through it all. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, pornography is a good way to generate fantasies and enjoy your sexuality (whether you are male or female) and live out things that you would never REALLY want to do. Hubby doesn't want a balloon chested woman any more than you want the same sort of artificiality in a guy. Porn is a normal part of many people's sex lives. Ask him if you can look at the site with him and see what each of you finds sexy. Playboy.com is probably pretty tame! [ Reply | More ]

All sentient men like porn. Just accept that as a law of nature. Any man who says otherwise is lying. And Playboy -- that's like porn for high school boys. It doesn't get any tamer. Be thankful your DH doesn't have a taste for the really nasty porn that's out there. [ Reply | More ]

ugh! Everyone should stop telling her that there is only one answer to this. It all depends on what the people in the relationship are comfortable with. Each couple needs to decide what is okay with them. One answer is not meant for all. [ Reply | More ]
