I will be 44 in a few weeks. Had a m/c a year ago February, possibly another one (very early) this March. Didn't ttc right away after last year's, I wasn't ready to dive back in emotionally. Now ttc since december. Not going to see RE. If it works great (would love sib for 2.5 yo ds - both dh and I come from large families) but if it doesn't, we'll have one great ds. I feel that it's kind of "last call" age wise. Either way it would make me older at dcs graduation than my own mother is now! [ Reply | More ]

or: Don't feel that way about age. My mother was young when she had me, and passed away 5 yrs ago, so you really can never say about that. I did see an RE, my FSH is low, eggs are "good for my age", etc. I had a MC last yr too (end of May) and, same thing, waited to start ttc again just was too wiped out. I am giving iui a chance - no meds, no big deal, but better odds I'm told. My dd is 3 - I'd love to have a sib for her, but know it just might not happen. It's hard, cause most people can't imagine ttc at my age, so I generally don't talk to anyone about it. How long did you ttc before getting pg the last 2 times? [ Reply | More ]

Sorry you lost your mom. I meant it more in terms of energy level, income producing for dcs college when the time comes, etc. Discussing with other people, I know what you mean - most of my ds' friends moms are about 10 yrs younger, so different situation. With ds got pg on first try, same with 2 mcs. But it is a question of timing and didn't use ovulation kit, just own estimation. [ Reply | More ]

OP: That's a good sign that you got pg so fast. Took me 3 mos ttc with each pg. I try not to compare with the younger moms, no point. Only regret is if I can't get pg again. I have a coworker who has 4 kids and just got pg with an oops at 45. It KILLS me!! [ Reply | More ]

3 mos is still pretty good. I know what you mean with co-worker, though 5 kids... I get that with all the #2s that were born in the past year, when I was almost there. Or when people ask me if we are planning on having another one - and I don't always feel like going into TMI. [ Reply | More ]

TY. Yeah, the reactions can be a total pita. If I DO get pg again, I can only imagine my MIL's reaction. It kinda sucks that you don't just get to enjoy your pregancy thing [ Reply | More ]

i'm actually in the mood to *do* rather than not do, so that's why i think exercise is a better option for me than watching my diet. but i am willing to cut out snacking and unhealthy breakfasts, which i think are my biggest dietary problems. i don't need weight watchers for that. [ Reply | More ]

Excuses excuses... Look, I'm normally a really skinny, vain fashion girl (now 39 wks pg, so all bets are off). I'm being honest here. If/when I have weight to lose, it doesn't matter if I go to the gym 5-6 days a week! If you wanna take it off, efficiently and effectively, you change how you eat. Period. The gym is for when you're shaping. [ Reply | More ]

If you want a totally hassle-free relaxing vaca, DH and I have had a wonderful time in Puerto Vallarta. They have great all-inclusive resorts with a number of good restaurants on the premises. The resort we've gone to that we loved is called Melia. We've also stayed at a couple of the biggies, Sheraton or Hilton or Hyatt (sorry I can't remember which now.) but if you want the inside scoop on how good these places are I highly recommend going to to vet them out first. Also, you'll get a great deal now since it's off season. Have a great time. [ Reply | More ]

not sure... do you have a therapist? I think SOME experimentation is normal, but I don't know how much, etc. [ Reply | More ]

or: Stop obsessing. What you did was perfectly normal within a wide range of normal behavior patterns. Those patterns are part of growing up; not every thing we do has to be gone over with a fine tooth comb and discussed. If you have a healthy productive life; if you have a healthy relationship with your family - - move on. (I say all this in the nicest way possible - - I am not trying to beat you up.) I guess - I just wonder if it means I am bisexual or soemthing? I am married now but people often think I am into women. I did think about it as an adult but never followed through. I guess I wonder if maybe this is why my relationships never work? [ Reply | More ]

Well, I am not a therapist or anything but my sense is that everyone has an element of bi-sexuality in their nature. So, I doubt that this period of experimentation has affected your ability to have long term relationships unless you leave the men because you think about women. I would suspect if you sat down and really analyzed your relationships, you would start to see patterns in your behavior (i.e., even if it is something as simple as picking the same type of men). Part of the trick to life is to stay conscious of our behavior... now, having said all this - - have you explored a lesbian relationship to see if it appeals to you? [ Reply | More ]

^^^ sorry, ignore that last question. What I meant to say is "have you considered exploring a lesbian relationship to see.....?" [ Reply | More ]

I do repeat the same mistakes in my relationships for sure. I have too much Catholic guilt to explore that idea really. Maybe in secret but not something I could do in public. Not judging just not strong enough for that righ tnow. [ Reply | More ]

Then I don't think I would spend my energy on this. I would focus on enriching yourself; analyzing what steps you consistently take in relationships that undermine them and go from there. [ Reply | More ]
