yes, I actually am fully recovered from panic attacks, so I know of what I speak. I do believe it is not serving herself (or her db) to take addictive drugs right now - maybe her OB would okay 1 or 2 pills, but that should be it. There is short term CBT that could help her, it doesn't take a long time. Another poster gave great concrete tips to help that don't require meds either. Longer term therapy will most likely be needed, but if she's motivated she can cure this. [ Reply | More ]

I actually am - therapy as well as meds can change brain chemistry over time. It's just not the quick fix. :) I'm very grateful considering I sobbed like a homeless woman on the streets of NYC when I was having a panic attack. [ Reply | More ]

listen. I'm not a dr and don't pretend to be like some ppl here. You've been in therapy and obviously not helping. I don't take meds so I'm not trying to push them either. But I do believe that some ppl need and benefit from meds in your situation. I think you should try it and see if it helps you. GL [ Reply | More ]

i had dh do most of the shopping/errands. i would only go to the store if i knew exactly what i needed. (e.g. what item, what brand, what price, etc.). i had a good routine for the day, even allowing for dc's erratic schedule. i would go for a walk and know where i was going to go. no random "help, i don't know what to do" moments if i could avoid them. i made a cleaning schedule and a menu so that i didn't have to panic. i just had to check my list. it was slow but i steadily grew out of my panic attacks. thank you. i think there's a place for medication but i also think that it's possible to work things through without medication. especially if you are self aware. the op has to make a judgement about herself adn her situation. she knows best about how severe these are. [ Reply | More ]

^^^also, i just saw your post from below. cut yourself some slack. your db sounds like it's still very young. you are going to be tired. it's normal to feel overwhelmed. but try to figure out what triggers your bad moments and then work to avoid them. i think that's a very healthy attitude. all the guilt is part of your ppd. You need to go to the dr tell them what's going on and let them help you. They should tell you what you need to do - ie how to decrease bf, get onto your meds and dietary moderation if necessary. Do you have help at home w/ db- I mean family support? [ Reply | More ]
