I'm in the same boat - what's your situation? how long ttc? I'm 44 in September. TTC for #2 and seeing an RE. [ Reply | More ]

I will be 44 in a few weeks. Had a m/c a year ago February, possibly another one (very early) this March. Didn't ttc right away after last year's, I wasn't ready to dive back in emotionally. Now ttc since december. Not going to see RE. If it works great (would love sib for 2.5 yo ds - both dh and I come from large families) but if it doesn't, we'll have one great ds. I feel that it's kind of "last call" age wise. Either way it would make me older at dcs graduation than my own mother is now! [ Reply | More ]

or: Don't feel that way about age. My mother was young when she had me, and passed away 5 yrs ago, so you really can never say about that. I did see an RE, my FSH is low, eggs are "good for my age", etc. I had a MC last yr too (end of May) and, same thing, waited to start ttc again just was too wiped out. I am giving iui a chance - no meds, no big deal, but better odds I'm told. My dd is 3 - I'd love to have a sib for her, but know it just might not happen. It's hard, cause most people can't imagine ttc at my age, so I generally don't talk to anyone about it. How long did you ttc before getting pg the last 2 times? [ Reply | More ]

Sorry you lost your mom. I meant it more in terms of energy level, income producing for dcs college when the time comes, etc. Discussing with other people, I know what you mean - most of my ds' friends moms are about 10 yrs younger, so different situation. With ds got pg on first try, same with 2 mcs. But it is a question of timing and didn't use ovulation kit, just own estimation. [ Reply | More ]

OP: That's a good sign that you got pg so fast. Took me 3 mos ttc with each pg. I try not to compare with the younger moms, no point. Only regret is if I can't get pg again. I have a coworker who has 4 kids and just got pg with an oops at 45. It KILLS me!! [ Reply | More ]

3 mos is still pretty good. I know what you mean with co-worker, though 5 kids... I get that with all the #2s that were born in the past year, when I was almost there. Or when people ask me if we are planning on having another one - and I don't always feel like going into TMI. [ Reply | More ]

TY. Yeah, the reactions can be a total pita. If I DO get pg again, I can only imagine my MIL's reaction. It kinda sucks that you don't just get to enjoy your pregancy thing [ Reply | More ]

lol - and if I get pg again, I will need MIL and my parents for backup! Good luck to you - personally I think it's fine either way. would love sib for ds, but absolutely cannot complain about current situation. [ Reply | More ]

np:have either of you tried acupuncture? 43yo here and tried it after 4 mths of ttc. Pg now after 3 mths of treatment. Even if it doesn't work for you, fwiw, I found it restful and felt better after every session. [ Reply | More ]

OP: Yeah, I did accupuncture when I got pg with dd. Got pg after 2 mos. Doing it again now, been going a little more than 2 mos. How long ttc before you got pg? Is this #1 or #2 for you? [ Reply | More ]

thank you. have to admit that the 4 mths of ttc on our own wasn't as 'scientific' as I would have liked - dh's schedule, dc sick etc. Liked acu though - felt it made a difference [ Reply | More ]

op: My accupuncturist keeps acting like it's no big deal, I'll def get pg. It's funny, cause I just can't be that optomistic at this point. But she sees alot of people my age and older, so at least I know I'm not completely alone in this game! [ Reply | More ]

np above:mine was pretty confident as well. My view was that I would try it for a few months and see how I felt about it. If it felt like a waste of time and money, I would stop. I found I liked it and found it restful. Liked my acupuncturist and decided to continue - glad I did! [ Reply | More ]

For what it's worth, my friend tried to conceive from the age of 40 - 44 with no luck. She decided to give up and was shocked when she got pg at 46 with no help. Good luck to you both. [ Reply | More ]
