If you are getting an epidural, delay it as long as possible. Try to relax and breathe deeply through the contractions. If you do get the epidural, don't let them "turn it up" so you can't feel anything. Otherwise it will be hard to push. My first birth was medicated and my second unmedicated. For the second I read a Bradley book and had a friend act as my doula. My advice to you is to research your options and not be dogmatic. Labor hurts -- it really hurts -- and first labors very often go pretty long. Try to be as unmedicated as you can, but be prepared to use an epidural to give yourself a rest if you need it. DD will go to gen ed if citywide G&T doesn't work out, but I'm worried about having her go to an orientation for a school she might not go to; i.e., would it be too confusing to go to orientation and have her get all excited about that school and then switch gears on her if Anderson or nest become an option? a perinatologist like poster below said would be good. This may be something that just happens and maybe the baby was turned funny. Heart defects are the most common birth defects there are though. Many of them can be corrected, but some cannot. GL to your friend [ Reply | More
