Best Friend just had 20 week ultrasound and they couldn't find all 4 heart ventricles. She's going back for another US next week. Big deal or does this happen sometimes? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

a perinatologist like poster below said would be good. This may be something that just happens and maybe the baby was turned funny. Heart defects are the most common birth defects there are though. Many of them can be corrected, but some cannot. GL to your friend [ Reply | More

This happened to me as well. Sometimes they can't get a good look, and they really want to see the heart well. I went back and all was fine. The tech said it's very common. [ Reply | More

would be better to see a pediatric cardiologist. i saw one when pregnant due to genetic factors (a cousin born with an enlarged heart_ They are experts at determining in utero issues. Mine was on 32nd street btwn. 3rd and lex. [ Reply | More

This is really not necessary in the vast majority of cases. If there's a problem on the repeat ultrasound, they'll send her to an expert. -OR from above you. [ Reply | More

this happened to me at 20 weeks. no big deal for me. they simply couldn't get the baby in the proper position to see all 4 chamabers. returned a few days later and it was fine. [ Reply | More
