in the end it makes no difference. anderson will get smart kids, and presumably they are equipped to educate them. you people are too caught up in some ideal and the school's mission. It has hurt anderson to hold on to this position, and they need to join the real world. they need to give up some of their need for specialness. it is unattractive and unhealthy, not to mention that its a fantasy. ITD--this methodology has worked for 20 years and made a great school why would you change something that has worked so well? The DOE is responding to a lawsuit and covering themselves but their actions are creating exactly the opposite [ Reply | More ]

the doe is being responsible, and their methods are reasonable. change is good and there are many reasons to change. that a school is good does not mean that access has been fair or equitable, or that it couldn't be better. this constant lament by anderson people saying it has worked well thus far does not cut it. they say that because it served them since their kids got in. others could do well there as well, and the access to the school needs to be more fairly available to high scoring kids. to say when something isn't broke, do not fix it, does not apply to anderson. many did not like the onsite system, and felt favoritism and diversity/gender balancing were at play. it was not transparent and the doe is right to change the system. same for nest. seems very clear to me that the doe had to do something to change this. lawsuits happen for a reason, and the doe had to be responsive. hunter has a different source of funding and so has different mandates. it really is not a question of one being better. hunter is not some proven gold standard against which to measure. country clubs screen and interview applicants too, but that process may be inappropriate for schools for gifted kids. until you have done some sort of controlled study comparing different methods, you have no basis for an argument that one is better than the other [ Reply | More ]

I put the blame on the MTA and NYC/NYS elected officials. Those are the ones who should be looking out for our kids/our interest. Advertiser/companies are accountable to their clients and their shareholders. Send a letter to Budweiser. Tell them you and your family are boycotting them for a year. After that time you will re-evaluate their subway porn. If it is still disrespectful... you will boycott till June 1, 2010. ips mom here: the PSD sent a letter announcing that they would be closing the location in 2009. The church (PAC?) where they lease from is not renewing IPS's lease. Instead, it appears that the church will have afternoon classes when IPS would have had its classes. [ Reply | More ]

no. I would not do rosehip. I don't think acupuncture will hurt, might help. Or, start getting spa pedicures -- that induced labor for me. [ Reply | More ]

I think you should stop taking advice about your pregnancy from people who likley got the training on hte internet. And listen to your Dr. You should not be taking any herbs or having any procedures with out discussing with your OB. [ Reply | More ]

I know i am wierd but I don't like the pill, I hate the way it makes me feel and I have heard of to many stories of infertility and I can't help but blame the pill. I am in the clinical studies industry and I still don't like the pill. [ Reply | More ]
General Topics 05.29.08, 07:43 AM Flag

There is no evidence that the pill causes infertility. The pill can acutally help preserve fertility because it suppresses ovulation. Our bodies were not meant to ovulate every month. They were made to be either pregnant or BFing most of the time, both which suppress ovulation. [ Reply | More ]
