All I want to do is get DS, age 3, out of the City during the summer. Went to my mom's house in the burbs and what did he do? Sit inside all day and read or play with his cars...ignored the swingset, the grass, etc...What do I do?? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Maybe he needs other kids to play with or specific outside activities, like finger painting. [ Reply | More ]

some kids are like that. My friend lives in the burbs and she has to force her kids outside. They prefer being inside. Mind you they have a huge backyard, pool, swingset, ride on toys, ect [ Reply | More ]

just take him to the closest playground every day and Central park when possible. Why do you need to leave? Not for him right? [ Reply | More ]

you know, i would encourage outside play when possible, but i would also encourage the type of little boy that he is. this is actually a really good quality, and will lead to lots of success in his future. lots of men are like this, and are intelligent, smart men who just are more intellectual. also, he may learn to love the outdoors when the perfect activity comes along-- biking, for instance, or something. but really encourage who he is. this is a lovely quality in a boy [ Reply | More ]

I agree. My Dh hates to go outside. He would much prefer to sit inside on a beatiful day and read the paper. He is succesful and intelligent. [ Reply | More ]
