No (I just hoped (but never really believed) from the first time I heard that Hill would make her run that someone else would become the Dem nominee) And do I hate them more than GWB? There's absolutely no comparison. I can't even look at a picture of GWB and his robot wife Laura without feeling sick. They are the Worst ever. [ Reply | More ]

that's the tough part . . they seem nice, but they are far under asking (and our house is on the cheaper side too) so to get 10K more, means a lot to us. If they could match it or come close, we would go w/them and take the house off the market and not accept any other bids. I don't want a full-on bidding war, but I would like to make some money. We feel they would come up b/c it was a lowball anyway. DH and I are like this too, lowball and try to get the best deal you can . . . but they clearly want the house so isn't it worth asking where they stand - that's our feeling. Plus, we don't have to accept the other offer, we can simply say we're sticking w/you (1st offer). [ Reply | More ]

life is tough. There are no easy answers. I think the population in NYC has changed and redrawing the lines with the neww data makes perfect sense to me. If your apt was in 234 and isn't anymore, that is a shame. But - it is not the end of the world. You sell it, sublet it, rent or buy elsewhere, go to a g&t, go to an unzoned school 150 or 212, or go private. That is A LOT of choice. [ Reply | More ]

first off, if you live in a co-op, it's very difficult to sublet it. 150 has only 25 slots per grade, so that's no guarantee, and neither is 212. and why should you have to go private if you bought specifically for a good public? some people pour all their money into an apt in a good zone and don't then have the money for private. wait a minutes. Since when are property prices guaranteed? Shit happens. The DOE needs to redraw the zone boundaries, Tough luck for the ones who will suffer, but that is life. [ Reply | More ]

nothing is guaranteed, but people buy in certain neighborhoods for certain schools and have a reasonable expectation that their property value won't decrease because of zoning. [ Reply | More ]

I am very sure the city has the right to do that. It is going to be unpopular among a minority of folks, so what? Short of building more and more schools why not trying to balance the load among schools first? [ Reply | More ]

Since when? What makes you think that? Did they have a clause in your mortgage? This makes no sense. It is unreasonable no matter how hard you argue that it is. You assumed too much. [ Reply | More ]

npp. it's really not all that unreasonable. i'm not saying they shouldn't suck it up, but it still sucks. you sound like the typical ub bpp who assumes anyone rich enough to buy in a good zone deserves to be screwed. [ Reply | More ]

There is one poster obsessed with property value and their case is simply not true. Besides, this is not a new idea. Cities redraw lines and have for decades. You deal. No one gets a guarantee. There is a problem and there are no easy solutions. You come up with what works best. [ Reply | More ]

At ours, ps6, capacity is about 110%. I think PS158 is the best on the ues as far as small class size. PS 290 is the worst as far as overcrowding and is at 150% capacity. [ Reply | More ]

It's not that it's awful, but that you're child isn't learning something very crucial--to fall asleep without external help. For starters, stop the nap rocking. It's important that your child learn to soother herself to sleep. As for the bottle, make sure it's water only. [ Reply | More ]
