[ - ] What is the earliest that potty training can be done? Just curious because my 15 month old pulled out her changing pad and sat down and pooped on it (while in diaper) and I am wondering if this is a sign. She also will pretend to wipe her tushie with a baby wipe. Don't want to push anything. 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

when I can predict her poops, I put my 9 mo on the baby bjorn little potty, and she goes in it. Zero pressure, of course, and if she didn't get a kick out of being on the potty, I wouldn't do it. So, I do think its possible that she has the awareness. I've also heard there may be window at about 16 months that later closes. I was supposedly trained somewhere around that time. You might get some more info from the Elimination Communication crowd (diaper free from birth)... [ Reply | More ]

This came up with us. We decided yes, but had an amnio and echocardiogram, etc. so that 1) we could prepare and 2) make sure there were not any big birth defects (heart, kidneys). DB turned out to be fine, so I cannot say for certain that we would not have changed our minds and terminated. But I don't think we would have. [ Reply | More ]

a good friend of mine decided not to terminate (not downs, but a severe health issue). the child has had multiple painful surgeries and they still have no firm guarantee of adulthood, , their older daughter spends half her time in hospitals, and they went from having college and retirement savings to being hopelessly in debt. there's really no way to know what a SN kid entails until it's already "too late" [ Reply | More ]

But the costs for healthy foods and produce is very high. It's deceptive that they average the cost of Twinkies in with milk. [ Reply | More ]

I was just reading an article with prices (adjusted for inflation) for milk. Milk has only been more expensive during the 70s gas crisis and during WWII (according to this chart). [ Reply | More ]

yet other areas are having surpluses. When we give food aid it must come from American farmers. Ridiculous! We could buy the food cheaper from areas around there with surpluses and ship cheaper and quicker than American farmers. This really pisses me off if you can't tell [ Reply | More ]

Everything that was Republican is no more. these people are BIG government, BIG spending. It makes me sick. I was die hard too until they went crazy. I voted in Repub primaries and voted for Ron Paul. I get the voting in the primaries so the absolute nutso doesn't get elected. [ Reply | More ]

It's tragic. There is more than enough food in the world but politics prevents it from getting where it needs. Of course, by now they don't need "food". They need nutrition therapy to slowly ease their starved bodies onto a regular diet. [ Reply | More ]

ps9 parent and sadly no inside information. Just wishful thinking. I think it is better for the program to have two classes and better for the school in terms of fund raising. But historically it was always one class. the current 4th grade is the first grade to have more than one G&T. [ Reply | More ]

this isn't entirely correct. yes, the graduating 5th grade has only one G&T but so the graduating 5th grade the year before and the year before that. The current 4th grade is the first grade in a while to have 2 G&Ts and only one gen ed. they increased to 4 classes this year and last year and the school cannot sustain 4 classes per grade. that is why they are going back to one G&T.
