SAHM who feel the need to defend their choices by asking anyone who works outside the home why they chose to bring a child into the world only to have someone else raise it, don't get it. When I WOH I was still heavily invested in my children's upbringing. Now that I'm home, I'm frankly not as good a mother IMO. There's more quantity time but less quality, I think. Anyone who truly thinks that any mother - wherever she is during the day - isn't still a mother is just clueless. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I find the quality/quantity thing to be an issue too. I can't tell which is better for DC. But I do know that overall I'm happier at home right now, so I hope it's working for DC too. [ Reply | More ]

i woh with ds#1 until he was about 3. now i sah. you're right about quantity vs. quality, but i see just how much i missed when i was working. the quantity time matters just as much - just ask the kids i see lined up for the bus to after-care until 6 or 7 when i'm picking up my son at 2 [ Reply | More ]

NP: I'm a mom who has no choice but to work FT and my kids love the afterschool program. Are you thinking the poor waifs you see lined up for it are somehow hating it? [ Reply | More ]
