Congratulations! I am here for the G&T placements, but my heart has really been going out to the middle schoolers and I definitely see that as the biggest travesty of the DOE this year. It is a big difference to leave 10-11 year olds hanging than it is to bother the parents of 3 to 5 year olds! We are grownups, we can deal with this stress--but to do it to pre-teens is totally not cool. [ Reply | More ]

np: sadly I'm sure there are many variations on this playing out now. Years ago df did backflips to get her dc into Delta even though dc was below cutoff - didn't make it and dc was very nearly SO of everywhere else. All her dc's friends were going there and dc was miserable not to join them -- it's way too young IMHO for kids to have to deal with this crap. [ Reply | More ]

He got some really bad food poisoning and the drs at the hospital said a lot of people were getting sick from the salad at McDs. It was bad, he was going to the bathroom every few minutes, dehydrated quickly, had to have an ambulance take him to the hospital. His potassium dropped very low, the drs thought he had a heart attack. It was scary. He is 83 but even his drs agree that he has the body of a 50 yr old. This guy is typically SUPER healthy. It was weeks before he was normal. This was happening to even young people at the time. It was about 6 months ago. [ Reply | More ]
