I looked it up and he would need a simple majority in the House to actually impeach. I bet he only gets about 10 in favor. I also wonder if the Obama campaign is rolling their eyes and wishing he didn't do this right now. I'm all for some truth, but I also want to win in November. This is giving the Republicans ammunition to paint Dems as radical. (Of course forgetting that Reps impeached over a BJ.) [ Reply | More ]

IMHO, if dh feels so strongly about it, he should speak with the camp director and get assurances (or not) as to the screening of counselors etc. I actually would expect male counselors to take boys to the bathroom, but what do I know, I only have girls -- we have the opposite issue -- what does my dh do when he's out with our dds and one of them needs to use the bathroom. Seems unfair to your ds to pull him out of camp for this. [ Reply | More ]

I have decided that even though I hate LI, there is so much stuff there that make it convenient for living. For example, I can think of 3 Targets all about 15 minutes from each other. But the truth, and we all know it, is that you DO have to be smart to ace the OLSAT, SB and ERB. Not that plenty of smart kids don't bomb, but to get that 99 you do have to be a smart kid. Period, end of story. You can argue if you want but you'll be wrong. 14 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

my kid lives in nc so isn't tested, so i don't have a particular dog in this fight. however, i think your post is really insensitive and unreasonable. kids have a variety of intelligences. one of the factors for happiness and success in relating to others is emotional iq. also, god blesses the kids who test high but also the ones who don't, who skills may show up in different ways. there are lots of different intelligences. all this testing seems so sad to me. also, to lambast others when your child obviously scored high is just unseemly. I half agree. I think a dc that scores consistently high on these tests probably has something going for her but on the other hand I don't think we should be making distinctions between percentiles. Do you really think a 98 is "smarter" than a 97? I doubt it. I think it's ridiculous all the "high" 99s saying that their kids are more deserving of a spot than a "low" 99 or even a 98 for that matter. [ Reply | More ]

You don't feel that an administrator's job has anything to do with educational philosophy? I would think that it does, in terms of hiring and supporting teachers and in terms of educational approaches used by those teachers. I'm told Anderson uses Prentice Hall Course One text book in 5th grade math, for example. I don't think Lower Lab currently has this kind of solid, factual approach to teaching math. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] I'll try again. Let's say you ordered something- a table- and it wasn't the right size. They guy didn't come right out and say "no returns", but he more or less said that he was special ordering the table and discouraged returns. If the receipt doesn't say "Final Sale", can I exchange part of the set (just the table and not the chairs)? I guess it's ultimately up to him, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this experience tIA 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

You are perfectly in your rights to send the table back for a bigger one [ Reply | More ]

Thanks- I just mis-measured the space. The guy was SO against it- there was no formal return policy. [ Reply | More ]

Your fault, you mismeasured - why is it his problem? [ Reply | More ]

He should have had a formal returns policy. That said, you are sticking him with a piece he will have much trouble reselling. [ Reply | More ]

I agree. I think that I would balance the two. If you really cannot live with it how it is, than go ahead and exchange. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Does anyone know anything about lottery results for District 3 and Manhattan School? I wasn't able to attend the lottery in person. All I have is a lottery number for MSC, nothing from D3. So FRUSTRATING. 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]
