[ - ] grrr. man i am dating is terrible about including me in his plans. when he invites me to things (not dinner, but events) he tells me about them and kind of waits to see if i say i want to go. its similar to the seinfeld where elaine doesn't know if she is being invited somewhere or not by her date. anyway, he just told me about some weekend away fundraiser he is going to and spent 10 mins telling me about who is entertaining, which celebs are involved etc. at the end of it i said "oh, that sounds really fun", as i couldn't believe he wouldn't invite me to it. he said it would be ok. now i am pissed. i invite him to everything. how do i handle this? its not even that i want to go so badly, just want the decency of an invite 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

make a joke about it. just a different communication style so don't take it personally. make a light remark about it to convey you don't understand. [ Reply | More ]

I think you should just explain that you enjoy spending time with him, are happy with the amount of time you spend with him (if this is true) but you aren't sure when you are invited to things or when you aren't. I am sure he doesn't realize any of this. [ Reply | More ]

yes, in gerneral, men a clueless about the nuances of communication. I would just put it out there that you don't know when you are invited to events/trips with him. Hopefully he'll get it and be better in the future. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Just started being SAHM and am in late 30s. Need more casual, nondrycleanonly clothes. When worked, wore mostly Elie Tahari, Theory, with some Burberry Prosum, BCBG, and other labels thrown in. Where should I shop now? I don't want to be devoid of style/look like I gave up, but I can't dress like I am 29 with cutesy clothesy either. 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I find that DKNY and J. Crew have some good staples, while still having some style. (J. Crew has great t-shirts, capris, tank tops, and DKNY good dresses, blazers, skirts, etc.) [ Reply | More ]

OP: I used to wear their clothes all the time, but now when I shop there, I think I am too old for everything I try on. This seems weird, but I think part of the issue is that I am thin but have big boobs. I think a lot of their tops esp. now just make me look like I am trying too hard. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] WWYD: I'm very pg, suffer from migraines and am asthmatic. This weather isn't ideal for me and this past weekend when I was out, I got sick with a migraine from the heat and felt sick. I have to take my dd to school and suggested that I'd pick her up at noon before the weather got to hot since I don't have anyone else to pick her up at 3pm (when it will be horrible out). She's upset but I think this is a good compromise considering how I get in the extreme heat. Am I nuts or does this sound ok (the noon pick up) 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I think it's supposed to be as bad at noon as at 3pm today (check accuweather). Why not let her go to school (and take a nap yourself) and just take a taxi or car service to get her? You are pg, I doubt the money in this instance will break the bank and no one's going to judge--even if it's just a few blocks. BTDT. [ Reply | More ]

i did rice cereal, then switched to oatmeal right after (less binding). we introduced foods every 3 days, always in am to watchf or a reax. we did solids at 2-3 meals/day pretty fast, though more for getting used to taste/texture than any nutritional value. people will tell you to do veggies first, since they are less sweet, but I don't think it matters really. both of my kids were eating most of what we were eating by 7-8 mos (intro at 5 mos). someone told me that the more flavors you introduce before 1 year, the less likely they are to be picky, which I do believe since it anecdotally worked with my kids, though it may be an old wives' tale. I stopped pumping at work when my ds was 12mo and continued to nurse him in the morning and night for another 2 months. I had to actively decide to totally stop - although I could soon make it through the day without pumping, I was fully able to continue to nurse him morning and night. It's absolutely a supply/demand thing, but your body can adjust to meet this new schedule. The key for me was doing everything slowly... GL! [ Reply | More ]
