Started solids...when did everyone start feeding twice a day? I did rice cereal first, think i'm going to try oatmeal next then veggies and fruits...is that how it works? My pediatrician gave me very little advice. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

i did rice cereal, then switched to oatmeal right after (less binding). we introduced foods every 3 days, always in am to watchf or a reax. we did solids at 2-3 meals/day pretty fast, though more for getting used to taste/texture than any nutritional value. people will tell you to do veggies first, since they are less sweet, but I don't think it matters really. both of my kids were eating most of what we were eating by 7-8 mos (intro at 5 mos). someone told me that the more flavors you introduce before 1 year, the less likely they are to be picky, which I do believe since it anecdotally worked with my kids, though it may be an old wives' tale. my ds is 7 mos and we started around 5 mo like you with just a little cereal once a day. Now we do solids twice a day (cereal plus a fruit or vegetable) and 5 bottles [ Reply | More ]
