No, they shouldn't. Anderson is a K-8 with 500 kids. PS 9 is a K-5. (some would get to go to grades 6-8? Some wouldn't?) The two schools have different viewpoints on budgeting, teaching style, acceleration, enrichments, etc. etc. etc. We make good neighbors, but it's better this way. [ Reply | More

the school is similar in many ways. they have common origins. anderson has only been on its own for a brief period relative to the entire history. its MS is new, as well. ps9 must take into account all of its students, gifted and otherwise, and so has special considerations having to do with a less homogeneous community. otherwise they are very very similar. I started at $12 (one kid) an hour and am now up to $17/hr (2 kids) 4 years later. I always treated it like a pro-rated fulltime job - I gave her 2 weeks prorated vacation of her choice (4 days) plus paid her for any days we were away or otherwise canceled. I gave paid sick days after 6 mos (but she never used them), no personal days. I also gave her paid days off when her days fell on certain national holidays.
