WWYD? Boss invited us (me, DH and DB) to beach house for the weekend. We agreed. A week later, our best friends announce that they're having their kid's bday party that same weekend. Do you leave boss' house early to make friend's bday party or stay at boss'? Afraid boss will be annoyed if we say we have to leave Sat and also, i want to be at a beach house! is close friend's kid's bday party that important? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

i say this b/c if our best friends couldn't come to our dd's party i'd be really sad and i'd want to feel like they were sad too. mostly b/c they are who we like to party with, more than b/c of dd [ Reply | More ]

I wouldn't worry about it, it's just a party. The kid isn't likely to care anyway. Have a great time at the beach! [ Reply | More ]

your best friend will understand. your boss and his impression of you is more important. also, you already accepted his invitation... it would be rude to change them at this point. [ Reply | More ]

You apologize to your friend and say you already have plans to be out of town. It is an unfortunate reality of summer b-days and they will understand. [ Reply | More ]

I'm only talking about 2 bffs; it's not that big of a sacrifice. and they're always inviting to one another's parties. dd's an only, so to me it's no different than planning to be around for a sibling's b-day [ Reply | More ]

OP's situation is different, she was invited after she'd already accepted boss's invitation to visit. No way should she cancel. If her friend is truly a good friend, she'll understand. [ Reply | More ]

Now you are stuck with original plan, obviously. you must really like your boss. My boss is ok and so is DH's but no way I'd want to spend a weekend at either of their places. [ Reply | More ]
