[ - ] Advice? Twin girls, 5, share a room, and that's not going to change. No matter when we put them to bed, they wake up at 5 or 5:30. Whoever is up first wakes the other one. They are not allowed to come out until 7, which they sometimes heed, but usually not. Of course I yell or get up to get them back into bed, which gets me so riled up that I can't go back to sleep, and there's no way they are, either. They're crabby by the end of the day. So they've been going to bed at like 6:45, because at least they get some sleep that way. But they still wake up early even if we put them to bed at 9. (Room has blackout shades, relatively quiet.) Anything I haven't thought of? (Please don't tell me to move to a larger apartment because we don't have the money.) 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I would advise this: Stop the rule that they can't come out til 7am. Make the new rule that whoever wakes up first should leave the room quietly, close the door and go to the living room to watch tv, read or play quietly. If you want them to sleep later, you have to put them to bed later for a few weeks straight. I am a sleep shifting expert and in a few weeks, if you put them to bed at 8 they will start waking at 6:30. .....at age 5, most kids require a minimum of 10 hr of sleep...which yours are getting. Some kids sleep more but if yours don't there isn't much you can do about it but try and make the 10 hrs they sleep most convenient for you [ Reply | More ]

Andrew Shelton on East 61 or 62nd...can't remember. It's a whole center, NY Aesthetic Center or ss, but listed under him. They have nurses do the service, so it's not usually him, but they're very good. A woman named Alice did me the last few times and I am really pleased with the results. [ Reply | More ]

Same thing happened to me....brought her at 2.5 and was totally fine, brought 6 months later and was petrified. I waited 6 more months and it went fine! Just read books about "going to the dentist" etc. and talk about how you get toys etc. Perhaps they'll let your dd sit in your lap while they examine her etc. [ Reply | More ]

you can't blame them. Insurance companies are so difficult to deal with. My BIL has his own practice. The insurance companies lose (purposely?) 30% of all his payment requests and deny a bunch more for stupid reasons. Then, if they do pay out money, it's a ridiculously low amount of money. Blame the insurance companies, not the doctors. [ Reply | More ]

yes, generally speaking. The ones who take insurance need to take a ton of patients and spend a short amount of time with each, in order to make decent money (like my BIL). The ones who take insurance generally take their time with their patients. Most of my doctors don't take insurance. [ Reply | More ]

No idea, since we only go to the ones that take our insurance. The exception is the kids' dentist, who does not take it but the insurance company pays us back anyway. [ Reply | More ]
