[ - ] Wait, Hunter called teh last 2 boys (#11 and 12) and now they extended it by 4 more boys? Is this true or UB rumor? I have a dd on the w/l and was hoping if they did anything, they would start calling girls after they went thr the 12 boys. I am going to call on Monday to find out the real truth. 10 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

My son started NEST last year. There was no welcome for them last year. I never would have thought or expected there to be one. You mean like have a welcome now, then send the kid home for the summer? In all honesty, as a current parent, I'd rather they focus on the kids there now. They have a couple of half days at the beginning of the year to ease kids into Kindergarten. [ Reply | More ]

We did it this week and thought they were quite warm. There is one guy who is dealing with all registration, so he is swamped. I also saw the principle in the office (while I was filling up the form), and I thought she looked much sweeter person up close. (She looked kind of stern in OH) I'm very happy to be at NEST and can't wait see you guys in September! [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] One more try (with updated info) NYC mom's .... We are in the throws of a nanny search. How much do you pay your part-time nannies a week. We are looking to hire someone between 7:30-5:30 two days a week. Someone said $15 /hr is low end. $300 weekly seems high for 2 days, no??? Do you pay hourly or salary?? Also do you give paid vacation on part-time??? We have a 12 month old 10 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I answered you below. You are looking for someone to work 20 hours/week which is half of a 40 hour work week. $600/week is not high. The word is "throes," by the way, and it implies something pretty heavy-duty: http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=throes [ Reply | More ]

Then off 1 month in summer and thinking of giving her that time in exchange for 6 nights childcare??? make sense?? So you will get 4 weeks vacation (8 days) and then 8 days off in summer for 6 nights at another time?>> [ Reply | More ]

we pay our 15-hour-a-week nanny a total of $250 week salary, which works out to $16.66/hour -- one child, 7 years old. it's basically a pick up from the bus stop and make sure she starts her homework/take her to any afterschool activity sort of job. [ Reply | More ]

^^^^btw, sitter gets all the sick days she needs, and gets paid for 52 weeks a year -- it's a salary job, not an hourly job. sometimes she comes early and stays later; other times she leaves early. it all works out in the end. she gets a year-end bonus too. all this said, we know her for many years, though she didn't sit for us all the time we've known her. it's a very personal relationship and there's a lot of trust there.
