NYC mom's .... We are in the throws of a nanny search. How much do you pay your part-time nannies a week. We are looking to hire someone between 7:30-5:30 two days a week. Someone said $15 /hr is low end. $300 weekly seems high for 2 days, no??? Do you pay hourly or salary?? Also do you give paid vacation on part-time??? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

You are looking for someone to work 20 hours a week, which is one-half of a 40 hour work week. $600/week is not high for a full time person. [ Reply | More ]

the going rate is anywhere from $10 to $15. Some people say $10 is not a living wage but I know quite a few moms who pay that much. Usually nannies start out at $10 to $12 then go up about 5% to 10% every year. So it adds up quite quickly. [ Reply | More ]

gotcha - so I could probably do 130 a day and then move upward - $13 hr. We really like the woman. Then I am off for break at christmas (2 weeks) and march (2 weeks) so thinking of giving her all that vacation. Then off 1 month in summer and thinking of giving her that time in exchange for 6 nights childcare??? make sense?? So you will get 4 weeks vacation (8 days) and then 8 days off in summer for 6 nights at another time?>> [ Reply | More ]
