[ - ] How much per hour would you pay a mother's helper / babysitter? Young teen, in my neighborhood. Most of the time I would be working at home or within 5 mins of home. My kids 8 & 10. We're in the 'burbs, if that matters. 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

My advice (40 yr old and 14 weeks preg. with 1st!!) - go out and buy pre-seed...look it up on the website. I read about it on this site and was literally pregnant the very next month. Look above. There are 7 more schools and all existing school with the exception of 4 have expanded all their class size to deal with more dcs. Don't talk to me about your idiotic PSD who tells you what she wants you to believe so you don't bang on her door when your dc doesn't get in anywhere. if your dc needs prep than they don't belong in the school you might actually get them into by prepping for a higher score. Let the chips fall where they may and don't push your dc. Let your dc be who your dc is. [ Reply | More ]

Read to her as much as you can, try mazes, puzzles, connect the dots and see what she likes. The BrainQuest games are fun. Nothing wrong with prepping, because, guess what, once they're "prepped" they're ready for the school they apply for? ERB doesn't test actual intelligence, it tests whether your child is ready to learn at the level the schools offer. If she can be prepped, she can learn, it's that simple. [ Reply | More ]

I actually find the ERB fascinating as a test of incidental learning. Basically, schools that are selective are looking for kids who are easy to teach, and then they proceed to shower them with resources. [ - ] I just came from a childhood friend's husband's funeral, 36 years old, died a vrey painful death from bone cancer. We had been best friend's our whole lives and kind of became estranged after hre marriage and child...we got together again about two years before her DH was diagnosed with cancer, in the meantime, I had another DBm to whom she has never met. We always had an off again/on again friendship but when we were close, we were very close. I feel terribly guilty that I hadn't been there more for her while she went through hard times with her DH's illness and at Mass they actually thanked another friend of hers for standing by her side, etc. It was like a stab in my heart...what can I do now to be there??? 22 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

1. don't make it about you; 2. contact her and ask how you can help. and do that agian in a few weeks when most people will have stopped asking her. [ Reply | More ]

remember that they weren't trying to insult you by thanking the other person - they were just thanking them. [ Reply | More ]

my mother died young and many of her friends felt the same way. I would write a letter expressing your regret and feelings to the friend... [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Anyone know where to find swim diapers for really young infants (e.g., 13 lbs)? Diapers.com has them starting at 32 lbs -- way too big for my 3 month old. Thanks. 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

amazon has some starting at 16 lbs which would likely fit, and also a lot of non-disposable options [ Reply | More ]
