not necessarily. some gen ed schools have great facilities and score very well on the state tests. There are three city-wide schools and then the districts have their own programs usually within a gen ed school that are available to dcs in that district. [ Reply | More ]

not true...there were 2 G&T classes in every grade in grades K-2 this year and one each in grades 3, 4 and 5. This year's 2nd grade class, the year they entered K was the first year they were able to fill 2 G&T classes instead of 1. [ Reply | More ]

For me, lots of drinking. Honestly since we've moved here we've had many impromptue bbqs, etc. It's pretty much a free for all play time for the kids. But that’s usually 6 at most. We’re a laid back crowd. But 23 is many, maybe bring out the kiddie pool. If I have help give them activities to keep the kids entertained. Any ideas would be helpful? [ Reply | More ]

I've had 2 dcs and never had a diaper bag. I have a changing roll that holds diapers, wipes etc and I carry this under the stroller or in my bag. Any other bits I need I carry in whichever bag I'm using that day. I bought an expensive diaper bag and just found I never needed it. [ Reply | More ]

you have to do both. i once asked my post-baby trainer (a two week gift, thank you) if it would be better to jog for 30 min. or walk briskly for 45 min and he said walk... you have to put in the time to burn the calories, but more importantly to raise your metabolism., which is what muscles do as well [ Reply | More ]

i think they all convert to some degree. my son is 2.5, so i just looked into the crib conversion kit for his crib - but it is soooo ugly and expensive. i'm just going to buy a cheap toddler bed to get him through the next year. [ Reply | More ]

You don't want to take Bugaboo on the subway. Though it's great as a stroller for walks around your immediate neighborhood - will go over any bumps or obstacles smoothly. For subway you want umbrella stroller. I recently posted for ideas as to which one - responses included maclaren volo, quest, or the chicco. If you just want one stroller my guess is one of the heftier maclarens, but don't have experience with them. [ Reply | More ]

np- I take the subway daily, the Chicco Comfort is the one we use. It reclines and is a little heavier than the Volo.. Depending upon the subway stop (elevator or not), I think the Bugaboo is too heavy [ Reply | More ]

I live in NYC as well, we got the mcclaren quest for #2. easy to carry on subway and bus. and we walk miles every day. bugaboo looks nice but never seemed practical to me. we used a zooper for #1 but it's a little heavy. [ Reply | More ]

Yes all the time. DS and I go on trips with my Dad and my nephew who is also an only. Dad loves to travel and take the kids but someone needs to help him. Usually it's me. Now and again DH goes but we try to go away as a family once a year so he can’t always go on these trips too. [ Reply | More ]

Bs and Cs at Andover are quite something and harder to get than an A at some suburban public. I am not a Bush fan, but you are taking his application to boarding school and college out of the context of the era.
