ITD. Op - I lost 30lbs with a combination of all you listed. Watched what I ate, also cut all white flour products. Joined a gym and workout on the treadmill, also lift weights. [ Reply | More ]

I agree - there are a ton of studies that show just dieting isn't as effective as working out... [ Reply | More ]

Exercise also changes your metabolism so you burn fat for a longer period of time. [ Reply | More ]

honestly, I think you need both, and both will help. It's true that weight training doesn't help you lose pounds, and it can actually make you gain, but you will look much better, and your clothes will fit better/looser! [ Reply | More ]

My trainer always said building muscle, b/c it's more "metabolically active" and burns more cals & fat all day long, making you leaner. But what is a trainer gonna say? "Fire me and go for a run"? [ Reply | More ]

you have to do both. i once asked my post-baby trainer (a two week gift, thank you) if it would be better to jog for 30 min. or walk briskly for 45 min and he said walk... you have to put in the time to burn the calories, but more importantly to raise your metabolism., which is what muscles do as well [ Reply | More ]

muscles in women do not significantly increase metabolism (I've looked up the scientific studies on this) [ Reply | More ]
