agree. i am happier to see my kids exposed to a variety of kids from different backgrounds, including different strengths and weaknesses. i think they will benefit more from being in a class with some intellectually smarter, some weaker rather than a class where everybody is intellectually smart [ Reply | More ]

I did, but the building was replacing the windows at the time and I simply ordered them from those people. If you can find out who made and who installed your windows, you can try to contact them and order the screens to fit. We love having screens [ Reply | More ]

No, not 60. But if everyone at Dalton K stayed to graduate, they would still add 20 kids (90 in at K; around 110 in graduating class). And from K-9, Dalton probably loses 10-15 kids? So maybe around 30-35 added....But I'm not there so this is all a guess. [ Reply | More ]

It is not true for any of them - however, for most of them there are times when money or something else trumps smarts and this is true at all levels of admissions. But by and large the dc entering Trinity in K are very smart. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] have to admit, I signed up to be an active member of the PTA at my daughter's preschool, have been sucked into doing a LOT of volunteering for them next year and unfortunately, I am so done with living in Manhattan. I just want to pick up and leave. I hate the fact that I will not be living up to my pledge to do all of this stuff if we find a house in the fall. I will do what I have to, and then move on. This totally sucks, but I am totally not cut out for the competitive Manhattan school thing. For god's sake, even the public schools are full of it! [ - ] SAHMs: How do you do it? I love my dcs, but I feel like I just can't take it any more. I spend pretty much the entire day cleaning up toys, food, dishes, preparing food for them that they barely touch, getting no cooperation from them (younger is only 18 mos, so I realize I can't expect much, but she is so strong that I literally cannot change her diaper or clothes if she doesn't want to). I feel like I have to get a job to keep my sanity. I know what you mean and I completely respect and understand the response above about structure but I find that to be very challenging...I'm not a marine. I think in some ways the grass is always greener when you are a mom--there are just sacrifices you make whether you SAH, WOH, or even WAH. You end up with so much on your plate. I just keep reminding myself that this time is going to go so fast and I try to appreciate it now since they will be going off to school before we know it. [ Reply | More ]

sounds like you've got your head screwed on pretty well. I don't think I could have done it when mine were toddlers. I started WAH (and only part time) a couple of years ago, and I mostly love it, but my kids are school age, which obv makes it much easier. I'm still adjusting to summer mode (kids home most of the summer, also caring for my mom, who lives w/ us), so I'm overwhelmed just now. I have learned the hard way that I have to make myself a priority, even if only to look after my physical health. Also once those kids are in bed at night, I am DONE with everything: no chores, no work, no volunteering. It's my time, even if that's just an hour or 2. [ Reply | More ]
