Ahh I see. Yes of course he slept every now and then as did I. We had a private room. He handled 100% care except nursing the whole time we were there. Slept in one of those pull out chairs. If our son was being taken out of the room for any reason - he accompanied him. At the time some nurse at a hospital down south had taken a newborn. He had to teach me how to swaddle and diaper. It was a wonderful memory and he was such a natural. He'd just finished the Karp book I didn't get a chance to read. [ Reply | More ]

I wasn't worried about the tester, but I wasn't sure my dd would be comfortable going down the hall with a stranger at age 3.6. The tester came out, called my dd's name and engaged her in a gentle conversation about the animals she was playing with (at the ERB office). My dd was very comfortable and he later remarked on this in the notes. In our experience, the tester was very good. [ Reply | More ]

Yes. I chose not to test DC 1 for this reason. I also felt DC was not ready for that at 3 (fall b'day). I tested DC 2 with some hesitation, but in the long run I think the whole process is absurd. DC tested very high but we ended up choosing private. I don't think you can test such young kids for giftedness. A high score is an indication of something, possibly, but a low score means nothing. The DC could be having a bad day, little sleep, a cold coming on, etc. I think we should wait to start G&Ts until the kids are older. [ Reply | More ]

oh please, that's news because it's a female teacher having sex with a 13 year old boy. The chances of your 4 year old being molested by a tester while you're outside the door are a teeny tiny fraction of the tiny chance that you'll be hit by a car, yet you still risk crossing the street every day. I didn't say I was panicked - just vaguely uneasy. You wouldn't feel vaguely uneasy leaving your 4 yo with a backup caregiver from an agency for example? I cross street every day yet I am aware of the possible risk and do so defensively. By the way the trusted head of that school molested several boys over the course of many years, it wasn't an isolated incident. The alter boys at a church I recently attended happened to be in their 70s. I suppose parents of young boys weren't vaguely concerned? [ Reply | More ]

What do you make of the fact that hundreds even thousands of moms send their 4 yos into a room alone with a tester with no worries and you have unease? Does that tell you that there might be something off in your perception/thinking process? Because it should. This is not a case where everyone is careless, and you are appropriately careful. This is a case where you are paranoid - and your child is probably in greater danger from your paranoia than any thing you are worried about. Seek help. [ Reply | More ]

Let's see. I'm a tester. If I'm like most testers, I'm a middle aged female from that well known pool of sexual molesters of 4 year olds. The anxious mom is outside my door. I know the mom is going to ask the child many questions about what the child did with the tester. My entire career is based on working with children. How could I possibly resist the urge to molest little Sally or Johnny? I can't. that's why there are so many tester-molesting-children scandals. [ Reply | More ]

When someone pulls shit like that I call them on it, I'd say, "Hey, aren't you married with a baby on the way, go pay attention to your wife for a change." What can they say? Of course he'll say he was only kidding and ask you why YOU are so uptight and can't take a joke! [ Reply | More ]

I thought about doing this but I was so caught off guard. It started out of the blue with little remarks here and there and escalated quickly. I didn't give him the cold shoulder until he started getting very personal in his text messages. He stopped texting me about projects and started texting me very personal remarks. I'm disgusted. His wife is due any day. What an a$$. [ Reply | More ]

Never text back just ignore it. He'll figure out a way to communicate if it's work related. [ Reply | More ]

Yes - the movers. Funny. they are lower than another company we are considering, but we've used the other company before (and have been happy). [ Reply | More ]

My estimate was $5300 for a 2300 sq ft 3 bdrm apt...packing and moving (into a house in westchester). One or two responders said it sounded like a good price. [ Reply | More ]

I used them about two years ago, they were great, I called the day before I moved, a three floor walk up, and I was totally unprepared. They packed wrapped and put my stuff in storage in about two hours. They were so nice and never complained about all the steps. they hauled stuff on their back like ants! I think it cost about $800, worth every penny! then moved it all back in when I came back. highly recommend! [ Reply | More ]

We recently used Redline movers> They did an outstanding job. We got estimates from 3 other companies but felt more comfortable with Redline. We were very pleased with our choice. The movers were great, true Gentlemen. Good luck with your move. [ Reply | More ]

Anorexic or unintentionally. I occasionally eat less than 1500 but only when I'm working long hours and can't get a moment to snack. Anyone who does this intentionally has a problem. [ Reply | More ]
