I don't think OP is saying anything about St ann's-- an earlier poster said her husband took a teaching job there so ds could attend, BUT ds was riding around in limos with his friends and they took him out and moved to poretland [ Reply | More ]

This should be everyone's strategy for getting their dc's into top colleges. No schools need another New York kid, I don't care how smart they are. And Portland is great. [ Reply | More ]

Portland is 78% white, which isn't really all that diverse to me. 6% Asians, 7% African Americans. Sounds like a NYC private school / public G&T parent's kind of diverse, actually. [ Reply | More ]

It's a very segregated place. Schools are being closed because of smaller numbers of children. [ Reply | More ]

The number of families with children in Portland is decreasing and the number of single adult households is increasing. [ Reply | More ]

Her child might not be prepared for Yale. I lived in Portland for 10 years. It's not diverse; it's boring compared to New York; the schools are not great; people drive everywhere. [ Reply | More ]

What did you think of St. Ann's academically in lower and upper schools? Are the kids really smart, or do they just have parents who can afford the tuition? [ Reply | More ]

The academics at St. Ann's are top notch. our d graduated and went to Yale. She felt totally prepared for college. Have 2 others St. Ann's. Love it. Can't say enough good about it. [ Reply | More ]

Yale is an Ivy but not all that either academically undergrade. Taught by grad students and look at how they passed through George W... Prepared for Yale? I think anyone could fit that bill. [ Reply | More ]
